When thinking about Fall one of the first things that comes to mind is pumpkin… carving pumpkins, decorating with pumpkins, and of course eating pumpkins. It seems only natural that we would incorporate pumpkin into Fall crafts for kids. Playdough is something that my grandchildren have always enjoyed playing with. My youngest grandson is at a stage where everything goes into his mouth, so we’ve been sticking to playdough of the edible variety. This edible pumpkin playdough recipe that I came up with is both festive for the season and very fun.
Here’s What You’ll Need to Make It
Mixing bowl
Spoon
1 cup canned pumpkin
2 ounces of honey
2 cups flour
2 cups powdered milk
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Red food coloring
Yellow food coloring
Plastic Container
Edible Pumpkin Playdough Recipe
Add 1 cup pumpkin to the bowl. Pour over honey and mix with spoon until well combined and smooth.
Add flour, powdered milk, and pumpkin pie spice to the bowl. Stir the playdough until the dry ingredients are moistened. Work the dough with your hands to knead in all of the ingredients. You may need to add additional four and powdered milk at this point, 2 tablespoons at a time, until you get the consistency of bread dough.
Once all of your ingredients are combined, add 4 drops of red food coloring and 2 drops of yellow food coloring to the dough. Using your hands, knead the food coloring into the dough. This should give your playdough the bright orange color of a pumpkin.
We had fun cutting shapes out of the playdough with our Halloween cookie cutters. This edible pumpkin playdough recipe is a lot of fun to make and it doesn’t taste half bad either!
Store this edible pumpkin playdough in a plastic container with a well fitting lid, between uses.

Hey, add some eggs and you might have a good cookie recipe. THAT playdough sounds yummy!
WOW, Monster would love this! He’s into playdough lately and it gets everywhere. I’m not sure how he would be about edible playdough because he knows not to eat it. Also, his PPCD class works with playdough often because some of the kiddos have sensory issues, I’m going to send this recipe to his teacher so she can share it also!!
I LOVE this idea.
Awesome idea!!
