I warn you in advance that this jello brain recipe is not for weak stomached individuals. If you are looking for something totally gross and gruesome to serve your guests this Halloween, jello brains are for you. I found a brain mold at Walmart last week for under $2 and knew I had to find something to do with it. Here’s what I came up with…

Jello Brain Recipe at About A Mom

This jello brain is the perfect Halloween dessert and is surprisingly quite delicious. The combination of peach jello and evaporate milk makes the perfect flesh tone and a few drops of red food coloring really gave the appearance of blood vessels.

Here’s What You’ll Need

Brain mold
3 – 6 ounce boxes of peach flavored gelatin
1 – 12 ounce can of light evaporated skim milk
Vegetable cooking spray
Red food coloring
Green food coloring
2 1/2 cups boiled water
1 cup cold water

First spray the inside of your mold with vegetable cooking spray.

Place gelatin into a medium size bowl. Add 2 1/2 cups of boiling water and stir with a whisk until completely dissolved, about 3 minutes.

Stir in 1 cup of cold water.

Pour in skim milk and stir for about 2 minutes.

Add a few drops of green food coloring to produce the flesh color, and stir well.

Wrap the mold in a kitchen towel and place into a bowl, sitting upright. You’ll want to be sure that the mold is sitting tight in the bowl, so that it won’t move around.

Add several drops of red food coloring to the bottom of the mold, to create blood vessels.

Pour jello mixture into mold, leaving approximately 1 inch space from the top of the mold.

Place in refrigerator overnight, and allow to set completely.

To Serve – Dip the bottom of the mold into warm water and gently shake until the jello is loose from the mold. Once you are sure it is loose from the mold, invert onto a serving plate.

I didn’t think we would ever get around to actually eating the brains, because all of the kids wanted to take pictures with it. Needless to say the jello brain was a hit with everyone.

So what do you think? Will you be serving up brains this Halloween?
