Who has time to clean these days? I certainly don’t. Cleaning is one of those things I simply can’t seem to get out of no matter how hard I try, and believe me I try! What if I told you there was a way to get your floors clean without lifting a finger, paying someone, or bribing one of the kids? When the folks from Neato Robotics offered to let me try out their new XV-21 Pet and Allergy model, I jumped for joy (quite literally). Who knew a Neato Robotic Vacuum could bring so much happiness?
With a house full of kids and dogs, keeping the floors clean is really a challenge. I joke about trying to get out of cleaning, but dirty floors is something I have low tolerance for. We have mostly hardwood floors with a lot of area rugs, and some tile. Finding something that will work well on all of these surfaces has been difficult. My cleaning arsenal is equipped with a standard vacuum, steamer, electric broom, and dust mop, just to name a few. One of our dogs sheds a LOT and here in Georgia we have this red clay that get’s tracked all over the place. The Neato XV-21 Pet and Allergy Robotic Vacuum was surely put to the test in this home.
Why I Love My Neato Robotic Vacuum
It reduces allergens and picks up pet hair. Did I mention that one of our dogs sheds a LOT? The Neato vacuum picks it all up! It uses a special bristle allergy brush to pick up pet hair. It also has a special pet and allergy filter that picks up and retains fine dust particles.
I don’t have to lift a finger – I don’t have to lift a finger, because it does all of the work for me. My Neato is programmed to automatically clean the floors on Monday and Friday. It powers up at the scheduled time, cleans the floors, and returns to the charger when it’s done. It’s a smart little robot! The menu is very easy to understand and straight forward, making it super easy for a non-techie person like me to program it.
The Neato vacuum goes under the furniture and cleans all those hard to reach places, some of which hadn’t been reached since… I don’t quite know when. Let’s just say it’s been a while.
It’s quiet. The sound it makes when powering up reminds me of an air plane powering up. The Neato runs very quiet, a lot quieter than my other vacuum. The dogs used to bark at the vacuum, non-stop while in use. I was shocked that after doing their initial inspection of the Neato, they haven’t paid it any attention. It turns on in the morning as programmed and doesn’t at all distract me from my work.
The Neato XV-21 is smart. It’s a first of it’s kind mapping robot that uses a laser-based positioning and path-planning mapping system to keep track of what it has already cleaned and has left to clean, resulting in the most efficient and thorough cleaning pattern. It vacuums in a methodical back and forth pattern like you do, giving carpet that freshly vacuumed look. It cleans very close to walls and corners. Neato carefully cleans around furniture and other obstacles. It’s amazing to watch it get out of tight situations!
There is a large, bagless dirt bin that is easy to empty and clean. In fact, let me show you some of my dirt and this is after just one pass through the house.
I love that I get to work on other projects while the XV-21 does all the work. It’s given me back some of my time and my sanity. Quite honestly I could go on and on about how much I love my new Neato Robot Vacuum, but I think you’ve figured out by now that I think it’s pretty awesome. Do you want to see the Neato in action? I want to win because I definitely have a lot of animal hair in my home. Two cats, and a dog, and they all shed like crazy. It doesn’t seem to matter how much I brush them either. I know their hair collects a lot in certain spots too, especially with the cats and where they like to lay. Plus it can easily access places I can’t without having to have several people move heavy furniture. Again in regards to the animal hair, my cats’ favorite place to sleep is under my bed, which is too heavy to move. I shudder to think what it looks like under there. Cat fur, great wafting tumble weeds of cat fur that appear virtually overnight on my clean floor and are quite hard to just sweep up with a broom. I have read that these little machines practically attract them, certainly trap them and then magically take them away. I want that to happen.

I have a lot of rescue pets. 5 cats, 2 ferrets, and a huge great dane! With so many furry babies, the hair really piles up! I have sinus problems and dust allergies. My husband is in the navy and though vacuuming isn’t a difficult chore, having to do it so frequently slowly eats up time I could be spending with my husband before he has to deploy. Who wants to vacuum when they could be spending time with their husband, or playing and taking care of their pets?

Because we have 4 kitties and my hubby has slight allergies. He loves everyone of them though. He even saved one from a wall at his work, it had fallen in a hole from the top of the wall and he ripped the wall apart to save the little orange ball of fur. Would love a Neato! We have two cats and a dog along with an area rug that seems to shed blue hair nonstop so this would be super helpful.
I’d love to win this for many reasons. The top reason is for my son and I, because we have severe allergies and although we love our 2 labs I happened to be allergic to their dander and I already vacuum every day so this will help tremendously.
This is something that I could really use! I have a walking Disability and vacuuming is very hard to do. I walk with a rolling Walker and when I try to Vacuum from my wheel chair I wind up ruining the cords.

Many, MANY, years ago we took in a beautiful 13 year old girl. But like a lot of girls in the foster care system, she came with baggage. Not your ordinary teen problems, but she walked through our doors with an amazing 3 month old baby. For several years we watched as she struggled between being “a teen” and a mom. Neither my wife or I envied her and we knew that we couldn’t “be mom” for her. There were days that it was agonizing.
We now know that little girl is our daughter and that precious baby as our granddaughter. They are no longer little. As I write this, our daughter is 25 and our grand daughter is 10. She has since gotten married and given us another precious grand baby. She, by every definition of the word, has succeeded. She has helped me redefine my view of success. It was never about good grades or a great job, those are helpful, but it isn’t success. Success is the ability to keep getting up when life knocks you down. To do the right thing, when all that’s in you wants to run. It is the tenacity to live.
I hope to win this Neato Vacuum for her. If anyone deserves to lighten their load, it is that beautiful little girl that walked through our doors MANY years ago.

I would like this to clean after my dog.
I have 2 dogs, a 4 year old, and a husband that is just as mess as my 4 year old. I have to sweep the floor a lot. This would really help me out.
I am not a fan of vacuuming so it would be nice to have the help around the house.
i have one dog and 2 cats,with my copd, this would surley help my breathing!!thanks for the chance.

I have allergies and I have 3 dogs who shed all the time. I have to sweep everyday.

I am having twins in the next month and not having to worry about vacuuming the house would be amazing. I think I’m going to have two more important reasons my hands will be busy not vacuuming.

i need on all i have in my house is hard wood floors and we have pets and i want this badly
I think the “scans, maps and plans” its cleaning path instead of randomly moving about a room sound like this vacuum would actually work unlike my roomba.
We have 4 pets and I’d like to use it to combat pet hair!
We have a cat whose mission in life is to spread his hair all over the house and vacuuming is a bit repeatative. Also this machine assists with allergies .
I have a cat with the fluffiest coat EVER! It’s especially awful in the winter months.
