Building Strong Bones and Relationships Together

This is a product-provided, sponsored conversation with Viactiv®. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ever since I retired from my full time career, I have had a lot more time to spend with my family. It’s been so great spending so much quality time with my teen granddaughters. We have a lot of fun together. It’s just amazing how much they have grown and changed in recent months. I don’t want to miss a single minute of it. Being of retirement age has made me realize the importance of staying healthy and fit, so that I can fully enjoy my golden years and keep up with active teenagers. Since the beginning of year I have been working on living a healthier lifestyle, and I hope it is rubbing off on my daughters and granddaughters.

One of things I have become more aware of is bone health. I have always been very active, but it’s my diet that leaves much to be desired. I have no doubt that my diet is lacking a lot of the calcium needed for building strong bones.

I guess you could say that my retirement years are being spent with a focus on both building strong bones and relationships.

Through my partnership with Viactiv®, I have learned that it’s not just my bone health that I need to be concerned with. It’s no surprise that 68% of adult women are calcium deficient. But I was surprised to learn that 86% of teen girls do not get enough calcium in their daily diets. This is critical because 95% of bone building happens by age 20. This startling revelation has prompted me to encourage my 13 and 15 year old granddaughters to join me in taking a calcium supplement. I am glad we have Viactiv® Soft Chews, which happens to be the #1 doctor-recommended calcium supplement chew.

Teenagers can be picky eaters. Some days all my granddaughters want to eat is salad. I am so glad that the individually wrapped Viactiv® Soft Chews are available in delicious milk chocolate and caramel flavors that the girls will eat. The recommended daily amount of calcium for girls ages 9-18 is 1300 milligrams. There is no way my granddaughters are getting enough calcium from their current diet, but eating 2 Viactiv® Calcium Soft Chews daily takes care of that. Since they are individually wrapped, it’s easy to toss them into a lunch box or gym bag. You can find out more on the teens and calcium section of the Viactiv® website.

I am looking forward to many more years of building strong bones and strong relationships with my granddaughters.

Viactiv® Calcium Soft Chews are available at Walmart, Rite Aid, CVS, Target, Walgreens, and drugstore.com.
