Nike Young Athletes Innovation Summit: We’re Going! #NikeKids

Later this week my niece Maddie and I will be flying to Portland, Oregon to visit the Nike Campus and attend the Nike Young Athletes Innovation Summit. We are so excited about this trip and very appreciative to Nike for including us in this one-of-a-kind event! I've heard that no-one does an event quite like Nike, so I am sure it will be pretty spectacular. It's impressive to me that a huge company like Nike is so invested in promoting young athletes. Maddie and her 2 siblings are competition cheerleaders. If you are a regular reader, you've probably figured out that I am all about keeping things simple, especially when it comes to throwing parties. Family Fun Night with the Harlem Globetrotters

We recently had a fantastic night of family fun watching a Harlem Globetrotters basketball game in Augusta, at the James Brown Arena. This being our first time seeing the Globetrotters in action, meant we were in for a big surprise. It wasn't your ordinary basketball game by any stretch of the imagination. None of us had any idea how much we would be laughing during the game. It wasn't all fun and games though. The Harlem Globetrotters had to take on the International Elite for the world championship. The Elite were fierce competitors, but in the end it was the Harlem Globetrotters who won the championship. It's been a busy Spring break for our family, so a family movie night is just what we needed to wind down a bit. Mom (Laura) and I headed to Walmart to pick up the movie "We Bought A Zoo" starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. While we were there, we grabbed a few snacks for both the two-legged and four-legged members of our family. Have you seen a safety pin bracelet before? They are really cute! I've been wanting to make some for a while now. You'll be surprised just how simple they are to make. It's a great activity to do with your older children. You'll only need 4 things to make this bracelet. 1 inch safety pins Clear stretchy cord (found in the bead section of the craft store) Faceted multicolored beads (the really small ones) Scissors 1. Using your wrist as a guide, cut two pieces of stretchy cord of equal size. Allow enough cord to go around your wrist with a couple of extra inches, to tie off the ends. 2.
