5 Fun Park Activities with Coca-Cola's Take It To The Park Campaign

I participated in a campaign on behalf of SheSpeaks and Coca Cola to help spread awareness of the America Is Your Park campaign. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Summer is in full swing and Coca Cola is on a mission to inspire millions of people to rediscover the joy and fun of being in the park through the America is Your Park campaign. When is the last time you had fun in the park? My family always has so much fun at the park, whether it’s the playground down the street, the beautiful Hamburg State Park that is nearby, or a visit to the beautiful Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta. There are always fun things to do at the park, especially if you use a little imagination.

Go on a scavenger hunt. Before heading to the park, create a list of items you could see in a park like a flower, a pinecone, a ladybug, a swing, a ball etc.

Create your own Olympic Games. Before leaving home, make some Olympic Gold Medals from construction paper and crepe streamers. Let the kids participate in Olympic events like Who has the fastest time running from one tree to another or how many high jumps can you do in one minute.

Watch for wildlife. Encourage your children to watch for wildlife at the parks including birds, bugs, squirrels, and maybe even a neighborhood dog. Take a disposable camera with you and let children take pictures or log the wildlife they see into a notebook, and create drawings. If you have a pair of binoculars, bring those along too.

Art in the park. Bring supplies with you to press flowers, glitter pinecones, or bring crayons and use the park as inspiration for a piece of artwork. This is a fun way to bring a little bit of nature back home with you.

Draw a nature map of your local park. Many parks have walking trails, but even if your park doesn’t you can still walk the park and then have your children draw the map of the park that includes their features and details from your walk.
