Decoupage Easter Eggs

Each year on Easter morning I fill plastic eggs with little treasures and treats, and hide them around the yard for my grandchildren to discover. Somehow I have ended up with baskets and boxes full of plastic Easter eggs over the years – many more eggs than the kids will ever be able to hunt. Rather than let the eggs go to waste, I decided to use some of them for a simple decoupage Easter eggs craft project.

This craft requires minimal supplies and is one that can be enjoyed with both young and older children. It gets a little bit messy, so be prepared. I was able to use some assorted tissue and spring flower wrapping paper that I already had stashed away in my craft closet.

Here’s What You’ll Need to Make Decoupage Easter Eggs:
plastic eggs
Modge Podge or glue and water mixture (2 parts glue to 1 part water)
foam brush
variety of colored tissue paper and gift wrap

Start by tearing the tissue paper into small jagged strips. Using a foam brush, coat a plastic egg with Modge Podge or glue/water mixture. Cover egg with a layer of torn tissue paper. Carefully, brush over tissue with another coating of glue mixture. Allow to dry and repeat process if necessary.

Typically, a grasshopper milkshake is a boozy milkshake that combines ice cream, creme de menthe, and creme de cacao together. In the spirit of St Patrick's Day later this month, I whipped up some tasty kid-friendly Grasshopper Milkshakes! This delicious grasshopper shake is made using mint chocolate chip ice cream and crushed grasshopper cookies.

Cut flowers or other shapes from gift wrap. Using foam brush, coat tissue covered egg with another coating of glue mixture. Place cut shapes onto egg, and coat with another layer of glue mixture. Allow to dry completely.

Place eggs in a basket to display, or do as I have and hang with fishing line or ribbon.
