Since having my first son, I have learned more and more about the benefits of babywearing – so much so that I wanted to give it a try the second time around. With my second son born in December, I finally got the chance! I was happy to receive a Boba 4G carrier in exchange for my review of my first experiences with wearing my baby.
When the carrier arrived at my door, the first thoughts I had were the color scheme and material are great. I went with the Glacier pattern that works for a baby boy – and my husband gladly wears our son with this color choice. The materials are soft so that baby is comfortable when worn, yet they feel very durable. I have no worries that I will be able to use this carrier for our entire babywearing experience.
The Boba 4G carrier comes with an included infant insert, so I’ve been able to use it since Baby D was just a few days old…and he was 7 pounds, 9 ounces at birth. I will be able to continue use until he’s 45 pounds if I wish – that’s a lot of bonding time available for me and my little one! There is the option to carry your child in the front or back of your body – we won’t be doing the back carry until he’s much older but the front carry has been great for us.
Putting the carrier on is an easy feat. There are videos on Boba’s website that show you exactly how it’s put on so you and your baby are safe during wear. The straps adjust to fit a range of body styles and it doesn’t take much time to find the right fit for you. It can be worn by those 5 feet to 6’3” tall. My husband and I fit in this range so we have no troubles with a comfortable fit from the Boba. The waist ranges from 25 to 58 inches – again, a large range to fit almost every body type.
For me, the carrier fits comfortably and doesn’t pull on my back or body in harmful ways. This is something I really worried about when considering babywearing. However, my almost 9 pound infant sits perfectly inside with no strain on me. James has had no troubles wearing it either.
I personally love the fact that there is a holder on the shoulder straps for my purse. I can choose to carry my bag on either shoulder, and I’m not constantly losing it like I do when I’m not wearing the Boba 4G. It stays right where I need it to – and these holders work for the diaper bag as well.
The storage pockets are another nice perk of using the Boba for babywearing. I have a place to quickly store my car keys, cell phone, money, and other small items. This is great for those quick runs into the store with the baby – no need to lug the diaper bag or my purse inside with me.
My husband and I are both enjoying the benefits of babywearing with Boba. It’s convenient and we have yet to dig out the large stroller when we go somewhere with Baby D. If you are considering wearing your baby, I highly recommend the Boba 4G carrier. Be sure to get it when your child is still an infant so you can get the most use of it – I foresee our carrier getting used A LOT in the next couple years!
