Flip Flop Wines Review

By no means do I claim to be a wine connoisseur, but I do really enjoy an occasional glass of wine. Our budget does not allow for expensive wine, so I was so happy to learn about Flip Flop Wines which has both the quality and affordability I am always looking for.

What makes buying Flip Flop Wines even better, is knowing that with each wine bottle purchased someone in need is
receiving a pair of flip flops through the Soles4Sols international shoe charity. Through the partnership between Soles4Sols and Flip Flop Wines over $100,000 from Flip Flop Wines proceeds has helped to distribute shoes to millions of people in need.

Flip Flop Wines, distributed by Underdog Wine Merchants, is a new “collection of expressive, well-balanced wines that are a perfect fit with today’s casual lifestyle”. At $7 (SRP) a bottle, Flip Flop Wines are an exceptional value and a great every day wine. The Flip Flop Wine collection includes seven varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Moscato, Pinot Grigio, Pino Noir and Riesling.

I received the following 3 bottles of Flip Flop Wines to try:

Riesling Tasting Notes

Tastes like: Medium-bodied, complex Riesling with peach, apricot and melon which leads to a satisfying, smooth finish.

It is full of: Tropical notes and sweet aromas.

Eat with: Tofu stir-fry, shredded pork tacos and sake sashimi

Serve: Chilled

I think I had only had Riesling once before this. After having it again, I really don’t know why I did not continue to buy it. It is definitely sweet which was a pleasant surprise for me, since I normally don’t buy sweet wines. We steered away just a bit from the suggestions and had this with a Boston Butt Pork Roast one night and it was great. I really enjoyed the combined tropical notes and sweetness. This was a very smooth wine. I also think this wine would be great by itself in the evening in lieu of our typical ice cream.

Pinot Grigio Tasting Notes

Tastes like: Light-bodied, refreshing Pinot Grigio with tropical citrus, ripe pear and a zesty, clean finish.

It is full of: Balanced crisp acidity

Eat with: Bruschetta, spaghetti carbonara or eggplant parmesan.

Serve: Chilled

This was my favorite of the 3 wines. It definitely had a zest to it that I really enjoyed. It was not sweet like the Riesling but had a perfect balance for me. It was spaghetti night at our house when we pulled out this wine. This wine made a typical weekly meal like this really something special for us. I highly recommend this vibrant and refreshing wine.

Pinot Noir Tasting Notes

Tastes like: Medium-bodied, structured Pino Noir with bright cherry, sweet spice and a supple, velvety finish.

It is full of: Cola aromas and hints of vanilla

Eat with: Grilled mahi mahi, bacon-wrapped shrimp or chocolate chip cookies.

Serve: Room Temperature

This was the red wine of the bunch. I typically buy red wines so was eager to try this one. We totally deviated from the tasting suggestions on this one. I found some fresh salmon on sale and really wanted to have a nice glass of wine with it. I rather enjoyed my unique pairing . This was a very smooth wine! I really picked up on and enjoyed the sweet spice of it. I could definitely see myself purchasing this one.
