Kinect Nat Geo TV

It’s not often a video game to comes along that I enjoy as much, if not even more than the kids do. Over the last couple of weeks my family has been getting WILD with Kinect Nat Geo TV and it’s been a whole lot of fun! Before I go any further I want to explain that Kinect Nat Geo TV is more of a television experience than a video game. It’s interactive TV that will engage and entertain kids and adults alike. We have really enjoyed the games, but more than that have enjoyed watching Nat Geo WILD TV episodes through Kinect.

Kinect Nat Geo TV

“Kinect Nat Geo TV” blends world-renowned Nat Geo WILD TV programs with intuitive Kinect for Xbox 360 technology, transporting children and their families to animal habitats around the world to inspire a sense of wonder and excitement about nature. Through the magic of “reach in and explore” interactivity on Kinect, kids do more than just watch television — they will engage, play and learn using their full bodies, gestures and voices. With “Kinect Nat Geo TV”, your family can explore the rugged beauty of the American wilderness with Casey Anderson, Nat Geo WILD wildlife expert and host of “Kinect Nat Geo TV.” Develop naturalist skills, learn about the environment and get to know wild animals.

Reach in and explore America the Wild!

Each 30-minute TV episode includes:

  • Visual cues on the screen to highlight the interactive “sidetrack” activities for viewers to jump in and explore with Casey.
  • “Go WILD” role-play games where families discover the natural world together as “Kinect Nat Geo TV” turns living rooms into forests and transforms kids into animals
  • Access to archived episodes of Nat Geo WILD TV programs through Kinect.

We have found the menu very easy to navigate. It’s set up a lot like a DVD menu. There are 2 discs included with each containing 4 – 30 minute episodes. To play the games you must use physical movements or speak clearly to the Kinect sensor’s microphone, as you would with any Kinect game. Maddie who is eleven really enjoys pretending that she is part of the wolf pack. “Go Wild” which is the mini role play games has been a lot of fun for both Maddie and her older sister Becca. As a family we all enjoy the television viewing aspect of the game.

Kinect Nat Geo TV

Kinect Nat Geo TV is available for the suggested retail price of $29.99, for eight 30-minute episodes. Also included (at a price) is a one year season pass that allows you access to even more episodes online. It is geared for kids ages 6 – 12, however my entire family with kids ages 11, 13, and 15 is really enjoying it. If you have younger children, I encourage you to check out Kinect Sesame Street TV for preschoolers.

  • This sounds really neat. I have the Wii, but not the Kinect. I think my son would LOVE this. He is a fan of all sorts of the animals and loves video games.

  • I wish we had an XBox 360 just to play this game! My kids would love it. They’re obsessed with all things wild animals and the interaction in this game is just amazing.

  • We played this at my cousin’s and we had so much fun with her kids! I think the adults had more fun than the kids did!

  • I agree with you , very few I like the kids to use but this one National Geographic sounds wonderful. We like reading the magazine- such beautiful pictures of the animals and such.
This I one I would definately get for my grandkids. Of course me too.

  • I don’t have to have any kids to know that I would love this and I’m sure my husband would enjoy it also. National Gepgraphic alwys does a superb job of photograhing and depicting wildlife situations.
