Storage is a real issue in my home. Old country homes like mine were built with large rooms, but very small closets and little storage space. Making matters worse, Mom and I both work from home and share the same home office. It doesn’t help either that we are both addicted to buying craft supplies. Hence, we are always on the lookout for home storage solutions and jumped at the opportunity to work with Sauder Woodworking Company.
Sauder made it easy to find the perfect storage solution. On their website you can search by product type, collection or by space. Since Mom and I both like the shabby chic and cottage look, we browsed through the Harbor View Collection to find our storage cabinet. The antique white finish is perfect. I love that the Harbor View Storage Cabinet we chose has doors that can be left open to display your nick nacks or closed to hide clutter. I have a feeling the doors on our cabinet will be closed most of the time.
I must confess that putting something this large together had me feeling a bit apprehensive. It’s the type of job that I usually have my son or nephew do for me. Mom and I were determined to put this cabinet together ourselves with no help. Luckily, the pieces were all clearly labeled and the instructions very easy to read.

In this next picture, the cabinet was almost together. Mom was working on getting the back in place. Only three things left to do – attach the back, put on the doors and place the shelves.
It did take us an entire evening to put the cabinet together, but we were extra careful to make sure everything was in the right place and well secured.
I felt like a kid who had just won an award, after assembling this cabinet. It was a great feeling of accomplishment. I think we found the perfect storage solution for our home. For now the cabinet will hold our cooking and craft books, back issues of our favorite magazines and a few odds and ends. We plan to get some baskets to place on the shelves to store craft supplies. I have a feeling we’ll be getting a second cabinet soon for the office. It would be nice to have one to store the linens too. The possibilities are endless!
