Last week my family and I were invited to check out the new summer laser show at Stone Mountain Park near Atlanta. Being just a two hour trek from the Augusta area, Stone Mountain Park is a place we love to visit on weekend trips in Atlanta. There is so much to do at the park, including the spectacular Snow Mountain during the winter months. This summer though it’s all about the spectacular new and improved lasershow! The 45 minute show features dazzling fireworks, lights and laser effects all choreographed to great music.
Upon our arrival to the park, we snapped the obligatory photo of my nieces in front of the massive Confederate Memorial Carving which turns out to be the perfect back drop for a laser and fireworks show.
A few hours before sundown, the families started rolling onto the green lawn in front of the massive stone mountain. It was such a wonderful sight seeing everyone out on their picnic blankets, and children running around playing with bubbles and tossing balls. It was everything summer ought to be. If you don’t want to sit out on the grass there is VIP Terrace seating available which includes snack or casual dining options. Reservations can be made online at www.stonemountainpark.com. My family’s view from the terrace was fantastic!
New for Summer 2014, Stone Mountain Park transforms the Lasershow Spectacular and its famous natural amphitheater yet again with More Lights, More Lasers and More Music! The show now features a lighting feature at the base of the mountain shining up like fingers of light showcasing the 825 foot mountainside. The addition of an overhead laser canopy effect now immerses guests as if they are a part of the show. Additionally, laser mirror bounce shots from all directions on the lawn create the effect of lasers jumping over guests’ heads. It’s pretty spectacular!
The new show also features an updated music playlist featuring 10 new songs including “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel, to “Home” by Phillip Philips and Pharrell Williams’ cheery hit titled “Happy.” Stone Mountain Park’s Lasershow Spectacular is an Atlanta tradition and is the longest running lasershow in the world (now in its 31st year).
Admission Info:
The Lasershow Spectacular is free. Parking admission is $10 per vehicle.
Guests can save on admission after 4 p.m. with a Sunset Adventure Pass & Lasershow Snack Terrace. WOW! These pictures are amazing. I can only imagine what it was like in person.
How spectacular! I love fireworks on the 4th of July, but this is a great summer activity for any night.
What a gorgeous park! The fun laser show is just a really cool added bonus.
OMGosh that place would be amazing to visit but that light show would be unbelievably cool! My family would love to see, it. I’ll have to remember for next time we pass through.
Very cool, laser shows are lots of fun. I hope to be able to visit Georgia soon, and this would be on my list to see.
I have never seen nor heard of anything like this, but that is so neat!
This looks incredible. Some of my boys don’t like the noise of fireworks, so this is a great alternative.
Hi! This looks like such a cool show!! I live in Florida and am tempted to make the drive to see it. The pictures are amazing! I’ve been to Stone Mountain before but there’s was nothing like this. It’s such a beautiful area. Thank-you for the information!!
