Making Time for What Matters Most

Making Time for What Matters Most

We all lead busy lives and some days are busier than others. Many of us take pride in our busyness. Some think it’s a sign of success or even popularity. Over the last few years, I have changed the way I think about being busy. I no longer think it’s important to schedule out every minute of my day and I’ve done a better job of prioritizing what’s important. I have partnered with Dixie® for the “Be More Here” initiative and am glad to share with you how I’m making time for what matters most.

Family.

I have become more purposeful in making time for my family, close friends, and myself. I surround myself with friends who don’t care if my house is a bit messy or that we use paper plates. That’s a true friend, indeed. So many fun things can be done with the time that would otherwise be spent washing dishes and cleaning.

It’s great having more time to spend with family. We enjoy things like family movie night. I love snuggling up on the couch with some popcorn, a good movie and people I love.

We eat dinner as a family a lot more often now. Family mealtime has become such an important time for us be together and catch up on each other’s day. It shouldn’t be interrupted, especially by dirty dishes. During the warmer months, I love firing up the grill and having dinner outside on the picnic table. It makes cleanup a breeze, especially when we use paper plates. Using Dixie paper and plastic products allows me to be present.

Instead of washing dishes, I get to join my family for evening walks out on the trails. We are surrounded by hundreds of acres of pine forest.

There is always something new and beautiful to discover out in the woods.

These walks are a great opportunity to talk and get some exercise. I wouldn’t trade these moments with my family for anything. After all, they are what matters most.

I’m so thankful for these moments together as a family, and glad that I started making more time for what really matters. That email will wait. The laundry can sit a few more hours. Those dishes can be avoided all together by using Dixie paper plates.

Dixie believes nothing should interrupt family moments.  Gather around your loved ones, linger a little longer, and be more here.
