Thumbs Up for the New Moonshine BBQ Menu at Outback Steakhouse

New Moonshine BBQ Menu at Outback Steakhouse

Last Wednesday Mom and I stopped into our local Augusta Outback Steakhouse during happy hour, to try the new Moonshine BBQ Menu. We arrived pretty early around 5:00, and already the restaurant was hopping with happy patrons. Living somewhere in the South for most of my life, I know a thing or two about BBQ. Here in Georgia the BBQ is typically vinegar based which I am honestly not a big fan of, so I was eager to have some really good BBQ.

I apologize in advance for the quality of my pictures in this post. While the dimmed lighting created a wonderful ambiance in the restaurant, it wasn’t ideal for taking pictures with my iPad. Regardless, I think you’ll still get the gist of just how good this Moonshine BBQ is.

Did I mention that everything on the new menu is made with real moonshine?

The new limited time menu features three Moonshine Cocktails – Huckleberry Hooch, Just Peachee and Watermelon Hunch Punch which happens to be my personal favorite. You can really taste the fresh melon in the Watermelon Hunch Punch. It’s such a nice summer cocktail, and so good that I could easily down two or three of them. We’ll let that be our little secret.

For starters Mom and I had the Wood-Fire Wings. Holy smokes these wings were good! Our awesome waitress, Jessica, explained that the wings are first fried then grilled giving them the perfect texture. The Moonshine BBQ sauce has a wonderful depth of flavor that’s not too smoky and not too sweet. I honestly cannot remember when I enjoyed a BBQ sauce quite this much. It has a just a little bit of kick to it which I like very much.

I would like to make a suggestion to the Outback Steakhouse franchise. You need to bottle this Moonshine BBQ Sauce and sell it stores. It’s really that good, and I would totally buy it!

I don’t think I can eat at Outback without having a steak, so I was happy to have the option to add a side of the new Moonshine BBQ Ribs along with my filet. Those meaty ribs were delicious – finger licking good actually. I can’t believe I am saying this, but I would have been perfectly happy skipping the steak and eating more ribs. There’s always next time!

The new Moonshine BBQ Menu at Outback includes some other tempting treats like Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, BBQ Chopped Salad (perfect for lunch) and Wood-Fire Grilled Chicken on the Barbie.

There is also dessert – Mom and I split the Skillet Apple Pie and it was oh-so good.

  • Luckily we have an Outback nearby, so it’s always a suggestion when we’re deciding where to go. The food is delicious. We were there recently and I was wondering how the bbq was, so thank you for the great review. Their summer menu is oh so good!

  • My daughter is a big fan of ribs and I bet she’d love these 🙂 I’m hankering for some Alice Springs Chicken so we may have to make a dinner date there one day next week!

  • It definitely looks like you and your mom enjoyed a fabulous meal! Being the watermelon lover I am, that cocktail would be a must, plus I can not go to Outback without having a Bloomin Onion!
