Shark Sonic Duo Review

I moved into the old country house that my family currently live in about 3 years ago. To say that this house was a filthy mess back then is an understatement. I cannot begin to thank the family and friends who put in countless hours of hard work to remove the grunge and get this house into tip top shape. However, the floors have continued to be a bit of a problem area for me. The old hardwood floors are original to the house, and I never felt like the tile and linoleum surfaces were quite clean enough. I am so happy to say that this all changed when I received the Shark Sonic Duo to review.

I was a little concerned over the over-sized box that was delivered to my front porch – after all the last thing I needed was another over-sized appliance. I was pleased to learn that the my Shark Sonic Duo was actually just well packaged and small enough to fit into my closet, without taking up much space. Making this cleaner even more appealing is the fact that it can clean both carpet and hard floor surfaces. The packaging claims that it is good for wood, tile, linoleum, laminate, and stone, but my review only covers area rugs, wood, linoleum and tile floors.

Setting it up was extremely simple to do. Included in the package was the Shark Sonic Duo, a drying tray, 2 hard floor cleaning pads, carpet/rug cleaning pad, wood and hard floor cleaner, low moisture -no rinse- carpet shampoo, activating pretreater carpet stain and odor remover, and 2 color-coded reusable bottles.

What I Like Most About the Shark Sonic Duo

  • It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, and glides over floors with ease thanks to the 180-degree swivel steering.
  • The solutions are non-toxic, biodegradable formulas that are safe for children and pets.
  • Pads are washable, so there are no costly disposable pads necessary.
  • Floors get a deep cleaning because of the high-speed scrubbing action at 1,000 times per minute. This amazing scrubbing action does wonders to remove stuck-on dirt and grime.
  • Cleaning solution leaves no sticky residue.
  • I also like that there are 2 separate reusable bottles – one for the hard surface cleaner and one for the carpet shampoo.
  • There are 2 speeds for the machine, a low and a high depending on your needs.

As you can see from my video below, we have pets in the house which means the area rugs require frequent cleaning. Using the cleaner on area rugs is very simple. First I like to pre-treat any pet stains with the pre-treating spray. I let that sit for about five minutes. The Shark Sonic Duo glides across my area rugs without pushing them across the floor or sucking them up. The rugs stay in place allowing the Shark to scrub, scrub, scrub away. Pet stains have disappeared every single time and my rugs are left slightly damp with no sticky residue. It also didn’t require any kind of rinse – it was all done in one simple step.

I am most pleased with what the cleaner has done for my hard surfaces, namely the old hardwood and kitchen floors. I have mopped countless times since moving into this house 3 years ago, and am shocked by how much grime has been removed in just the short time I have been using this cleaner. I get the heebie jeebies just thinking about how grungy my floors were before using the Shark Sonic Duo. The cleaner glides effortlessly across my hard floor surfaces and the results are impressive every single time I clean.

My Shark Sonic Duo Video Review

Am I thrilled with the Shark Sonic Duo and do recommend it, especially if you clean your floors frequently like I do. The Shark Sonic Duo has a suggested retail price of $249.00 (right now it’s being offered on the company web site for $199.80). The fact that it will clean all surfaces is a huge bonus. Keeping the long term cost down, the cleaning solution is very concentrated and just a small amount is mixed with tap water to clean your floors. Also, the pads are washable and re-usable. According the instructions, the pads should be replaced after 20 washes. Compared to some other floor cleaners that require disposable pads, this can be a big savings over time.

  • I need something like this for the tile floors in our den, we just moved in last week and I know that the floor in this huge room is going to be a challenge to clean when I get around to it.

  • This sounds like something I need for in my house. With kids ,cat and dog making messes all the time. I like that its lightweight and easy to use. I am in need of a new sweeper so I will have to check these out. thanks for all the great information on the shark.

  • I own a Shark Navigator Lift-Away vacuum and a Shark Professional Lift-Away Steam Pocket Mop. I am planning on getting the new Shark Sonic Duo soon as well.

  • I have a question – I have another tool I use for my wood laminate floor. It has to be used with the grain of the wood or there area streaks, in spite of pulling the water off the floor. It takes a full 3 hrs to move the furniture & properly clean this floor. I do not consider this floor to have been laid properly, in that in an alcove area it is side to side (the narrow width) of the alcove & not the length. I have the same problem in the kitchen.

We recently purchased the Shark Professional Navigator Lift-Away vacuum & are extremely please with how the floors are cleaned! We have 6 fur babies & believe me, shedding is an issue in our home. This vacuum does an outstanding job on both carpet & laminate floor, however it still needs to be thoroughly cleaned.

Will the Shark Sonic Duo solve the problem I have with the hard floor?

    Thanks!

  • I bought the machine and LOVED it! I have handwoven Persian rugs, antique hardwood floors and it works wonderfully on both!!!! It is amazing, but I have had NOTHING but trouble from the company. When I purchased the item, I used PayPal, they mailed the machine to me, then a few days later sent an email saying they could not process my payment and the machine will not be sent! Duh, I already had it. So I call and give them my credit card information. I am told that the matter was resolved, and then a month later get another email saying I am turned over to collections because I never called. I then called AGAIN to try to give someone my information, and after speaking with 7 people, for over an hour, I still have yet to get someone to fix the problem. The machine is great, the service is HORRIBLE!
