Thursday evening I had a super fun girls night out at The Home Depot in Cumberland, Georgia. Yeah, that’s right… it was a girls night out at The Home Depot and we had a blast! My sister-in-law Chrishelle of Cheer Mama Drama went with me to check out a free Do-It-Herself Workshop. If you’re not already familiar with the new DIH workshops, on the third Thursday of each month The Home Depot is offering free home improvement workshops for the ladies. Sounds like fun, right? As you can see from the pic above, a great crowd showed up for the workshop in Atlanta.
We showed up prepared for the DIH workshop, Starbucks in hand.
You might just be surprised by some of the fun projects they have planned. We got the chance to make a Pinterest inspired mirror frame, using mosaic tiles. I consider myself to be quite a crafty person, but anyone can do these projects thanks to the very helpful and friendly staff of The Home Depot. They took us through the project step by step, and gave lot’s of useful information about the products we used.

One of the best parts of the evening was getting to hang out with my new friend and fellow blogger, Joyce of Mommy Talk Show. I had no idea that Joyce was such a crafty gal? The bloggers were out in full force for this event at the Cumberland Home Depot store. The workshop gave us a chance to get to know each other better, have a good time, and all the while learning some handy home improvement skills.
Joyce and I were hard at work on our mirror. Honestly though, I have to give Michelle and Chrishelle most of the credit for our project. Joyce and I were busy doing what bloggers do… tweeting, talking, taking pics, and in Joyce’s case lot’s of video.
Joyce brought her fabulously sweet friend, Michelle, along for the fun. Pictured above are Michelle and Chrishelle doing the grout work on our mosaic mirror. These ladies are so handy!
Check out our finished project! Isn’t it beautiful? I am so excited about the project we did, and everything I learned. I had no idea there were products on the market that made it so easy to lay tile. About five minutes into the project, Chrishelle had a light bulb moment and suggested we use these products to tile the back splash in my kitchen. My kitchen is in desperate need of an update, and this is an affordable option that I can actually do myself – with a little help from my SIL, of course… hint… wink.
I’m looking forward to hopefully attending the Home Depot Do-It-Herself Workshop next month. I wonder what we’ll be making? You can get the instructions for the Pinterest inspired tiled mirror and details about Do-It-Herself Workshops near you from The Home Depot web site. If you’re a frugal gal like me, check out this event at your local Home Depot store. It’s free and you’ll probably learn something very useful!
