Walkers Shortbread for the Holidays : Scottie Dog Tin Review

Cookies abound during the holiday season and I can’t imagine a Christmas at my house without shortbread cookies. So as you can imagine, I jumped at the opportunity to review the Scottie Dog Tin from Walkers Shortbread. Now I can’t remember not having Walkers Shortbread for the holidays.

Walkers Shortbread Scottie Dog Tin

Dog lovers and cookie lovers alike will fall in love with these adorable little cookies from Walkers Shortbread. The pure butter shortbread cookies are baked from a traditional recipe which has been handed down through generations of the Walker family. They are super buttery and delicious. When I took the first bite an embarrassing “mmm” escaped my lips. Now that’s when you know you’re eating something that is REALLY good! Typically when it comes to things like cookies, I think that homemade is better. But honestly, I don’t think I could make shortbread as good as this and I pride myself at being a pretty good baker.

Walkers’ promises to never use artificial colors, flavorings or preservatives in their cookies. So, you definitely will not be in the dog house if you serve these.

The tin that the cookies come in is perfect for holiday gift giving. It’s adorned in a red plaid with two handsome Scotties on the lid, and a ring of adorable little Scotties around the outside of the tin. It’s very festive and so cute that I will definitely have to find a way to re-purpose it.

The Walkers Shortbread Scottie Dog Tin would be a fabulous gift to have shipped to a friend or family member for the holidays — great for foodies or the person who has everything. The 7.8 ounce tin comes with 18 Scottie dog shaped shortbreads. Inside the tin, the cookies are sealed into two separate pouches for freshness. The Scottie Dog Tin is available for $14.99 plus shipping, and would surely be a much appreciated gift.

For the 2012 holiday season, please consider Walkers Shortbread’s special edition Scottie Dog Tin, to which each purchase will contribute 10 cents to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in support of their animal welfare initiatives nationwide. On 12/31/12 Walkers will present a minimum guaranteed donation of $25,000 to the organization.
