As a parent, it’s a great accomplishment when I can find toys that are both educational and a lot of fun for the kids. SmartLab Toys is a company that offers cool art and science kits, as well as fun educational toys. Right now we are loving the ReCon 6.0 Programmable Rover.
ReCon 6.0 Programmable Rover Review
ReCon 6.0 Programmable Rover, from SmartLab Toys, has to be one of the coolest toys on the market this holiday season! The Programmable Rover is a toy, a robot, and even a tool for learning. This complex and sophisticated robot can be programmed to perform all kinds of fun and interesting tasks.
A child programs ReCon 6.0 to navigate a specific course that they have carefully mapped out for him. The ReCon 6.0 can even surprise a family member with a personalized message, deliver a treat to a pet, and carry a soda or snack. No computer required! Your Programmable Rover will use his built in microphone to gather field intelligence, and perform security patrol duty at your child’s bedroom door. If all that is not enough, ReCon 6.0 will even entertain your friends with the latest dance moves!
One of the first things your child will need to do is give their new Recon 6.0 a name and the robot will soon have the ability to introduce itself. The ReCon 6.0 Programmable Rover comes with a 48 page spiral bound Owner’s Manual and a tape measure (used to map out a course). This toy is appropriately recommended for ages 8 and up. The Owner’s Manual will start your child out with simple missions at first, with step by step instructions on how to program it. As you make your way through the manual, the missions become more difficult. Once you are familiar with all of the different maneuvers your Rover can perform, it is easy to use the blank Mission Maps to create your own missions.
Our family has had so much fun playing with our ReCon 6.0 Rover. While the kids have had a great time, the dogs on the other hand have been quite terrorized by ReCon! We have had remote control robots in the past and the kids tend to get bored with them, after a while. This is not the case with ReCon. There are so many different things this robot can do and they actually have to put some thought into setting up his missions.
We are not the only ones who think the ReCon 6.0 Programmable Rover is fantastic. Look at all of the awards SmartLab Toys has received for this toy:
*Winner of the 2011 Great Schools Golden Apple Award
*Winner of the 2011 Dr. Toy 100 Best Children’s Products Award
*Winner of the 2011 Parents’ Choice Silver Honor Award
*Winner of the 2011 Best Electronic Toy Award from Bestcovery
