Before getting my Amana washer and dryer, I never really put much thought into doing the laundry other than the fact that it was a chore. My old appliances were dinosaurs – the washer always throwing off balance and using tons of water, and the dryer taking 2 to 3 cycles to dry my clothes. Not only were they not cleaning my family’s clothes well, but they were sucking energy and running up my utility bills.
Now with my Amana washer and dryer, I look at laundry a little differently. I feel good about the fact that I am saving energy, time and money by using these appliances.
The washing machine is a top loader, but it is high-efficiency. The 3.6 cu. ft. capacity stainless steel wash basket holds a lot of clothes. I used to be one of those people who stuffed as many clothes as I could into the washer, just trying to get the laundry done quickly. I no longer have to do that. This washer holds a ton of clothes.
I have had my Amana high-efficiency washer and dryer for several months now, so now is a good time to share some of my favorite features.
My favorite Amana washing machine features:
High-Efficiency and ENERGY STAR® Qualified – Save water and energy with this high-efficiency washer. The washer uses up to 73% less water and 84% less energy, and it doesn’t just help conserve natural resources, this machine can help you save over $2,000 in lifetime water and energy costs.
The low-water wash system delivers optimal cleaning with as little as 13 gallons of water. Rather than filling the basket with water, this washer uses a concentrated detergent and water mix to penetrate soils and stains. The impeller and wash basket move independently of each other creating wash motions that provide better cleaning than agitator models.
12 Wash Cycles – With my old washing machine, it was one cycle fits all. But this Amana washer offers 12 was cycles to handle a wide variety of laundry chores ranging from delicate to bulky items like blankets and jackets. Some of the wash cycles are Quick Wash, Super Wash, Delicate Cycle, Drain and Spin, just to name a few. Plus, there’s a clean washer cycle with affresh® Washer cleaner as well. I love the clean washer cycle. It provides a deep fill to clean the wash tub and remove detergent residue.
My favorite Amana dryer features:
Energy Preferred Cycle – You can dry efficiently with this automatic cycle (one of 12 dryer cycles), and help save energy by using this dryness level as a great starting point for drying most fabrics. I wasn’t kidding when I said my old dryer sometimes took 2 or 3 cycles to dry clothes. That’s why I am totally blown away that my Amana dryer can dry most loads of laundry while on the energy preferred cycle.
7.0 cu. ft. Capacity – This dryer holds a lot of clothes and it’s Amana’s largest capacity dryer ever. With 7.0 cu. ft. the dryer will easily handle large loads from the washer. That means you’ll spend less time on laundry and more time on the things you enjoy.
Wrinkle Prevent Option – Can I say that as someone who despises ironing, I absolutely love this feature? The wrinkle prevent option puts a stop to wrinkles. After the load is finished, clothes tumble intermittently without heat to help stop wrinkles from forming. It’s genius, I tell you!
The side swing door and interior drum light make it easy for me to reach in and grab any socks that are trying to get away.
Laundry doesn’t have to be such a chore. Scheduling wash days, having the kids help sort and fold, and using the right appliances can make a big difference.

This sounds like a terrific option!
I bought a new set last year, and decided on a top loader, too. I bought LG. The only think I don’t like is that most of the cycles are soooo long. “Bright whites” is over an hour! I think the shortest is about 40 minutes. I wish there was a way to wash a smaller quick load.
As an apartment dweller I am completely envious of those that can own a washer/dryer!
