Be a Tooth Fairy Hero and Your Child’s School Could Win $10,000

I’ve been very fortunate when it comes to my teeth, not needing any fillings or dental work (knock on wood). I’d certainly like to keep it that way, so oral healthcare is very important to me. Taking good care of my teeth is a habit that I try to pass on to my family. You could say that I want to be their Tooth Fairy Hero. You can also be a Tooth Fairy Hero and and your child’s school could win $10,000 through Tom’s of Main “Be a Tooth Fairy Hero” program.

Your Child is Invited – The new Tom’s of Maine “Be a Tooth Fairy Hero” art project, part of the company’s annual Dental Health for All charitable giving program, invites children to break out their crayons and creativity to draw an artistic interpretation of the beloved Tooth Fairy to help smiles in need. So, break out the crayons and colored pencils – you’re child’s drawing will help smiles in need!

How to Enter – Enter your child/children’s (ages 3 – 10) drawing of the Tooth Fairy into a national drawing at the Tom’s of Maine web site. There’s a coloring page available here to make it easy or kids can draw their own creations. Then just send Tom’s of Maine an email with a photo of your child’s drawing attached via this entry form.

Prizes – Ten entries will be randomly selected, awarding a $10,000 donation on each winner’s behalf to a dental clinic in your state, plus toothpaste for your child’s entire school. That’s a lot of toothpaste!

When to Enter – There’s still time to enter! The deadline to submit entries is March 15, 2013.

Why we love the “Be a Tooth Fairy” program – This is a simple way to help raise awareness about the need for access to dental care and even a chance to talk to your kids about the importance of good oral care habits.

{My granddaughter, Maddie, drew this Tooth Fairy. I think we’ve got a real winner here!}

Tooth Fairy Fun Facts
Legend has it that each tooth the Tooth Fairy takes from underneath a child’s pillow ends up turning into a star in the sky.

Unlike Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, there are few details of the Tooth Fairy’s appearance that are consistent in various versions of the myth.

The reward left by the Tooth Fairy varies by country and household based on a variety of factors (including what kids tell each other!) A 2012 survey conducted by Visa, American children receive an average of $3.60 per tooth.
