Candy Cane Mice | Holiday Craft Project

When looking for holiday craft projects, I found these adorable Candy Cane Mice over on our friend Martha Stewart’s web site and just had to make some for our Christmas dinner place settings. Since we are going with a candy themed holiday centerpiece this year, they seem like such a great match. I love how the candy cane provides the mice with whimsy red and white striped tail. The kids will surely enjoy these little cuties, plus they’ll provide a little sweet treat after dinner.

Candy Cane Mice - Holiday Craft Project

Candy Can Mice are very easy to make, and you know me… I love a simple holiday craft project. To make these mice, first head over to the Martha Stewart web site and grab the template. You’ll need to enlarge it by 150 percent.

To make the mice you’ll need some felt in contrasting colors and craft glue. Using a pencil, trace the ears and body onto felt, and cut out. Cut inner ears and a dot for a nose from felt in a contrasting color, cut dots from black for the eyes. I deviated a bit from these instructions, instead using small black and white pom poms for the eyes and nose (since I had them). Glue the face and inner ears in place. Allow glue to dry. Next, make slits in the body for ears and a candy cane tail where marked on the template. Slip the ears through slits at front. Lastly, slide a wrapped candy cane through the body slits, tucking the end underneath the ear piece at the back.
