CAUSEBOX, a Subscription Box that Changes Lives

Have you ever fallen in love with the idea of something, and then after experiencing it loved it even more? That’s the experience I have had with CAUSEBOX by Sevenly, a quarterly subscription box that is filled with socially conscious goods. I am honored to have received the Spring 2015 CAUSEBOX to review and share with you.

In December Sevenly launched CAUSEBOX, a quarterly subscription box which contains products that do good and give back. In addition to only including socially conscious goods, Sevenly gives back to charity a significant portion from each box that is sold – 7% of every purchase is given back to charity. CAUSEBOX subscribers even have the option to choose to support a specific charity through their subscription, having the option to pick from several charity partners. If the subscriber chooses to let Sevenly select which charity to support with their donation we will notify them about the use of their funds. The very first CAUSEBOX launced in December donated $3,500 to the Jessie Rees Foundation which provides joy and hope for children who have been diagnosed with cancer.

What do you get in a CAUSEBOX? In each box there is at least $150 worth of value and it costs $49.95/quarter. The CAUSEBOX contains products that when purchased help provide jobs, meals, education, clean water, and more to countless women, men, and children around the world.

What is a socially conscious product? To the folks at Sevenly, socially-conscious means products that: give back generously to underprivileged communities, help provide jobs and sustainable income in underdeveloped areas of the world, raise awareness for different charitable initiatives, empower people, help people, or otherwise make the world a better place, and are made ethically.

A portion from every notebook that Denik sells goes toward funding schools in developing countries through amazing foundations like Pencils of Promise.

Tribe-Alive Bracelet
This super-chic, beaded bracelet was crafted by Tribe-Alive exclusively for Sevenly! Every bracelet is handmade by women in Honduras under fair trade working conditions, and each piece contributes to community development and job creation in developing countries. We were thrilled to help design this beautiful piece alongside this world-changing company and these amazing artisans! This collaboration bracelet alone helped TribeAlive provide 20 jobs for women in Honduras.

Half United “Fighting Hunger” Necklace
Each “Fighting Hunger” necklace incorporates three handpolished recycled bullet casings to take a strong stance in the fight against hunger. Half United’s mission is to use fashion to provide aid for world hunger — and they donate HALF of their profits from every product sold directly to global hunger relief efforts! These beautifully powerful necklaces are made in Downtown Los Angeles.

This product can tend to be a bit polarizing, because of the use of bullets in its fabrication. Many of our subscribers have loved it, but some have found it a bit distasteful. We decided to include it because it is the signature and most popular piece of jewelry made by Half United, which is a company we admire for really taking a strong stance against the hunger crisis. Half United donates an incredibly high amount of their profits to the fight against hunger (50%!), and when we talked to the designer and founder of the company she explained that the necklace is symbolic of a movement away from violence in the direction of positive change. The necklace is made from recycled bullet casings — they are melted down to symbolize the end of something negative, while boldly representing action toward hunger relief. They are hand assembled and made in Los Angeles, and Half United is a company that really cares about people in the same way that we do at Sevenly.

Smarty Pants Vitamins
Smarty Pants partners with Vitamin Angels to give vitamins to a child in need for every bottle of vitamins that they sell. Together they have helped over 500,000 at-risk children and counting! These vitamins are made in California and they are so tasty and nutrient-rich that you just might quit Kale and Quinoa 🙂 Stay nutritious and change the world all at once.

Most of us eat peanut butter already, so when we found out that we could feed the hungry just by switching over to Good Spread Peanut Butter, it was a no-brainer. It turns out it’s got just the right amount of honey in it, which makes it the best peanut butter we’ve ever had! We had to put it in the CAUSEBOX.
