The Bear Went Over the Mountain as told and illustrated by Iza Trapani.
The Bear Went Over the Mountain, by best selling author Iza Trapani, is such a wonderful celebration of the senses and the four seasons. As bear goes over the mountain he encounters new sounds, smells, and tastes. Bear comes across warty frogs, a porcupine, dragonflies, and gets chased by honey bees as he forages along. He sets out on his adventure of the senses on a sunny morning in Spring, and ends up back in his den as the chill of Autumn approaches.
There are many beautiful watercolor illustrations which are quite captivating and very detailed, right down to the frogs dancing on lily pads. As we read this book, it’s difficult for me not to break out into the song The Bear Went Over the Mountain. The music and lyrics to the classic song are even included in thee back of the book. This is a book that we find ourselves reading over and over again.
This classic retelling of a favorite song is a great way for you and your child to welcome Spring. The Bear Went Over the Mountain is available in April 2012 from Sky Pony Press and has a suggested retail price of $16.95.
