It’s hard to believe that yet another generation of my family is enjoying Disney’s Cinderella. The timeless rags to riches story has everything necessary for the perfect fairy tale: a damsel in distress, villain, hero, and of course a happy ending. The classic fairy tale is brought back to life with the Cinderella Diamond Edition available on October 2nd. Cinderella on Blu-ray is gorgeous! The music is still enchanting and the animation is vibrant and expressive. It’s really quite…..magical!
About Cinderella
Adapted from the Charles Perrault classic, Cinderella is the story of a young girl who is slave to her evil stepmother and two stepsisters. Everyone orders Cinderella around: her cruel stepmother, her awful stepsisters — even the big clock in the church tower tells her when to start another day of drudgery. But they can’t stop her from dreaming, and Cinderella has faith that someday her wishes will come true. When an invitation to the royal ball arrives, Cinderella is sure her time has come — until her stepsisters, with the encouragement of Lady Tremaine, tear her gown to shreds. Just when Cinderella believes all is lost, her Fairy Godmother appears, and with a wave of her wand and “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” transforms an ordinary pumpkin into a magnificent coach and Cinderella’s rags into a gorgeous gown, then sends her off to the Royal Ball. But Cinderella’s enchanted evening must end when the spell is broken at midnight. It will take the help of her daring animal mice friends and a perfect fit into a glass slipper to create the ultimate fairy tale ending.
The Cinderella Diamond Edition 2-Disc Combo Pack includes Blu-ray, DVD and some pretty fun extras like the animated short “Tangled Ever After” (the same short that was shown in theaters before Beauty and the Beast 3D), classic deleted scenes, and the story of the Real Fairy Godmother which is an amazing biography of Mary Alice O’Connor, the wife of one of Disney’s cartoonists.
Also included is the personalized digital story book, named Bibbidi-Bobbidi-You. It’s a Disney Second Screen experience. It’s a wonderful (free) interactive story that you can play on your phone, iPod or laptop. Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother will interact with your child through a story telling experience and Cinderella themed games. It’s so much fun!

Disclosure: I received a copy of Cinderella: Diamond Edition to facilitate my review. All opinions expressed and love for Disney are my own.
I love that they came out with a newer version of Cinderella. We have watched it 3 times already!
I loved Cinderella as a girl and have shared it with my boys. Of course, they lose interest in it around the time they enter kindergarten and fear being made fun of for liking a ‘girl’ movie. But, it is a fun one for any gender.
My daughter would be thrilled. She loves Cinderella, but all we have so far is an old, rather grainy VHS. Christmas gift idea, perhaps? 🙂
this is such a great movie, love!
I can’t wait until mine comes from the DMC, hopefully today or tomorrow! I think I’m more excited about Ginnifer Goodwin in the new fantasyland than the actual movie! 🙂
My daughter loved Cinderella, so I may get this as a Christmas gift. Thanks for the info!
My granddaughter would love this, I would enjoy watching it with her.
