Last weekend Laura and I had the pleasure of seeing Cirque du Soleil TOTEM in Atlanta. This being the second Cirque du Soleil show we have seen, we arrived at the Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) in Atlantic Station with much anticipation. TOTEM did not disappoint!
TOTEM transported us to a magical world full of much excitement, great beauty, and a bit of humor. TOTEM traces the fascinating journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. The opening scene featuring acrobatic frogs and lizards was very exciting.
What amazes me about TOTEM is how they can transform something as simple as roller skating or hula hoops into an exciting, jaw-dropping performance. Trust me, after seeing this show you will never look at skating the same again.
Some of the acts require great balance, while others require great strength, and much skill. There was one performance done by a group of young women on the tallest unicycles I have ever seen. It was pretty amazing. A young couple performed a wonderfully exciting story of playing hard to get, way up on a high bar. There was a tight rope performance like nothing you’ve ever seen before, atop a bar that was being supported by the brute strength of just a couple of men.
TOTEM was an exciting 2 hours of acrobatics, flight, dance, and amazing feats that you would have never imagined. Like any other circus, TOTEM has it’s clowns… but these are not your ordinary clowns. I enjoyed how the clowns pop up at different points throughout the show.
The holiday season is a great time to treat your family to a Cirque du Soleil show. Performances are now running in Atlanta through December 30, 2012. If you can’t catch TOTEM in Atlanta, it’s a traveling show, so it might be coming to a city near you.

I love Cique De Soleil. They are amazing.
they do some wild stuff, never the same as any other show
I wanted to go to this so bad, but we have such a busy November and December that I don’t think we will make it!
I have never seen a show, but would love to.
Cirque is the ultimate show experience. I haven’t seen anything that compares to their performances and I’ve been to a lot of different shows.
I desperately want to attend a Cirque show!
I have always wanted to see a Cirque show in person and it will happen one day. Amazing what they do.
I worked for Cirque when they first opened the La Nouba show in Orlando. They are amazing and so worth it to see!
I agree, I saw it in Phoenix !
