Counting Sheep Will Never Be the Same Again
Sheep counting has changed a lot since I was a girl lying in bed at night. I can’t help but chuckle each time we read Count the Sheep to Sleep by Philippa Rae. It’s the perfect bed time story with it’s sing-songy verse and bright, whimsical illustrations by Stephanie Rohr.
“Late last night I lay in bed and found I couldn’t sleep. So I scrunched my eyes up tightly and counted woolly sheep.”
Starting at ten, the little girl begins to Count the Sheep to Sleep, and her silly, fluffy friends encounter all kinds of laughable mishaps. The silly sheep provide a visual counting aid as they leap clotheslines, boogy on the dance floor, ride skate boards and much more. The sheep encounter one laughable mishap after the next, until there is only one left.
Children will laugh, learn and hopefully get very sleepy while reading this book at bed time. We have truly enjoyed reading this book and I know that you will too. Count the Sheep to Sleep ($12.95 – Hardcover) is available from Sky Pony Press and can be found at many local book stores or online.
