Save money this back to school season with these 5 tips for back to school shopping on a budget.

Can you believe it’s back-to-school season? New teachers, new friends, new shoes, new notebooks and sometimes, a new smartphone. The cost of school uniforms, notebooks and pencils adds up fast. It’s time to start shopping for those back-to-school deals! As a Cricket Wireless Ambassador, I’ve once again partnered with Cricket and Megan Media for #CricketBackToSchool to share some amazing Cricket Wireless deals just in time for back- to-school season. Cricket is a different kind of carrier, and they have just what you need in a no annual contract phone at an oh-so affordable price.

This time of the year can be incredibly costly. I have a few tips to help you stretch your dollars and get the best deals on your back-to-school shopping.

5 Tips for Back to School Shopping on a Budget

1. Shop at home first. There may be supplies or clothing from the previous school year that’s completely new!

2. Find out exactly what supplies your child needs so you don’t over-buy. Visit your school’s website or contact your child’s teacher for a supply list.

3. Take inventory of your child’s wardrobe. See if there is a thrift store near you that will give you store credit or cash for clothing your child has outgrown.

4. Use shopping apps like Price Grabber and Retail Me Not to make sure you are getting the best price on your back-to-school purchases.

5. Shop online. Did you know that you can find some of the absolute best deals online?  And you can bypass the crowds at the mall and your local discount stores. You can even shop for a brand new Cricket Wireless smartphone, safely and securely from your own home. How awesome is that?

  • It is important to save money on back to school things wherever possible. The beginning of the year is just the start of money that will be spent over the course of the school year.

  • Reassessing a smartphone or cell phone bill is always smart. My bill for my 2 kids this year was over $100 and that doesnt included what I donated to their classes. Saving money for BTS shopping is a must.
