Crock Pot Christmas Ornaments

Here is another fun way to use your crock pot! The ornaments are made using a basic salt dough recipe, except they are cooked in your crock pot instead of the oven.

Crockpot Christmas Ornaments

1 cup salt
3 cups flour
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup luke warm water

Mix all ingredients with a stand or hand mixer until it reaches the consistency of a ball. If needed, add an additional tablespoon of water while mixing. The finished dough will be sticky, but will hold shape when molded. Roll or pat dough until 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut shapes out of the dough. Use a toothpick to shape a hole near the top of each ornament, for stringing.

Line the bottom of your crock pot with parchment paper. It would be ideal to use 2-3 crock pots, if you have them. Place the dough ornaments in the bottom of paper lined crock pot. Cover crock pot with lid and cook on high for 2 – 3 hours, flipping once. The ornaments are done when they are slightly browned and hard to the touch.

Once cooled, you can paint the ornaments with acrylic craft paints. When paint is dry, thread ribbon through the hole and tie in a knot.

You now have adorable hand made crock pot Christmas ornaments and gift tags!
