cuddle+kind: Helping Children One Doll at a Time

My nephew and his wife are pregnant with their first child. I have been looking for the perfect baby shower gift for them. I want to give something that is not only unique, but will also hold a special meaning for the new addition. I know that I am expecting a lot, but when I had the chance to partner with cuddle+kind, I knew I had found the perfect gift for the newest member of my family. See, cuddle+kind not only offers beautiful hand-knitted stuffed dolls, but they are also helping kids around the world. I’m excited to tell you more about how they are doing that.

1 cuddle+kind doll = 10 meals for children in need

Each cuddle+kind doll is hand-knitted with natural, high-quality cotton so the Cuddle+Kind dolls are safe, soft and perfectly cuddly. Made by artisan women in Peru, the cuddle+kind dolls are a sustainable, fair trade income. What makes the cuddle+kind dolls so uniquely special, is that every doll that is purchased provides 10 meals for children in need.

When the Woodgate family learned that over 66 million school age children go to class hungry and 45% of deaths in children under five are caused by poor nutrition, which is about 3.1 million children each year, they decided they needed to do something to help. That is when the cuddle+kind dolls were born.

The cuddle+kind company has a partnership with the World Food Program USA. Together they are feeding children nutritious meals at school. While giving kids the energy to learn, they are also teaching children things they need to know so that they can break the poverty cycle they have been born into.

For example, when children receive a meal at school, it is a great incentive for parents to continue to send their children to school. This is especially true for girls. Girls who receive an education is the key to healthier communities. When girls receive an education, they tend to have fewer children and have their children later in life when they are more prepared to take care of them and give their children an education. Studies have also shown that a woman’s education contributed to 43% of the reduction in child malnutrition over time.

Look how sweet Chelsea the Cat is, pictured above. This is the doll I chose for my nephew’s new baby. She is going to be a beautiful keepsake toy for my nephew’s new baby. Sweet and soft, the baby will love to play with the doll. Sporting a cute little hat and matching dress, Chelsea is stylish while rocking her look. Featuring her 10 meals wristband, she is always there to remind everyone that a purchase from Cuddle-kind feeds 10 meals to children who need it most. Chelsea also has extra details sewed in to give her a completed look. The dolls are available in 20″ regular-sized dolls and they have recently released all characters in 13″ little size. Double the cuteness!

The ladies who knit the cuddle+kind dolls add so many loving touches. I am so impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of this doll, and am thrilled to know that the purchase of each doll helps feed children in need. The doll is soft and safe for a baby, but would also be a great snuggly friend for an older child.
