Recently, I attended a CVS Health and Beauty event in NYC to learn more about exciting new ways CVS Pharmacy is making healthy choices easier for customers. The company showcased their committment to providing care to patients and customers through reimagined store design, new health services, better-for-you food options, and expanded offering of health and beauty products. It was a lot of information to take in. As someone who is constantly trying to live a healthier lifestyle and frequently visits my local CVS Pharmacy, I am super excited about these changes and even more excited to share them with you.
Disclosure: I’m proud to be working with CVS Pharmacy to help spread the word about #BetterHealthMadeEasy and how to #FindYourHealthy. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers.
You might recall that CVS Pharmacy made the huge step of stopping sale of tobacco products in their stores a while back. This summer when you visit your local CVS keep an eye out for even more exciting changes. You’ll notice a new assortment of healthier foods, more health-focused products and an expanded beauty selections paired with more informational signage throughout the store.
Pay special attention when you go to check out. Now 25% of front checkout space is dedicated to better-for-you snacks. Instead of reaching for that candy bar, it will be just as easy to grab something like a delicious protein bar or a bag of almonds. You’ll also notice more tags and informational signage throughout the store to help you make more purposeful choices.
CVS Pharmacy is Making Healthy Choices Easier
Healthier Food Options
I love that I don’t have to go to a specialty store for healthy foods. CVS now offers an expanded selection of organic products and healthy snacks, including their own Gold Emblem abound™ product line. Healthier choices, including Alo Exposed Waters, EPIC bison bars and That’s It. bars will make up approximately 50 percent of all food options found throughout the store. Did you know that CVS now carries more than 175 organic products and not a single CVS store brand food contains harmful trans fats? That is HUGE. Additionally, products that fit nutritional and dietary preferences including heart healthy, good source of protein, gluten free, sugar free, organic and non-GMO project verified, are highlighted with shelf tags.
New Health Services
In addition to MinuteClinic walk-in medical clinics, CVS is expanding health services to customers. Select CVS stores will be offering hearing and optical services. The ease of access and affordability of these services will make such a difference for the people who need these services. While at the Health and Beauty event I got to try out some of the optical services. They will be offering a wonderful free service to customers that will determine if you are in need of an eye exam for glasses. It will be so easy to find out if you need glasses, before you schedule an appointment with an ophthalmologist.
Beauty with a Purpose
CVS is taking steps to remove certain chemicals from beauty and personal care lines. By the end of 2019, all parabens, phthalates and formaldehyde donors in products within the CVS Health, Beauty 360, Essence of Beauty, Promise Organic and Blade store brand product lines will be removed.
The company also recently removed all sun care products with SPF lower than 15 from its shelves while expanding products with SPF 30/broad spectrum, natural beauty brands and products focused on skin health.
They’ve added new, “on-trend” beauty brands like Wunder2 and Tigi Cosmetics, as well as products that have greater skin health benefits and more natural ingredients. CVS Pharmacy is even making the trend-setting world of Korean beauty more accessible to everyone. They now showcases K- Beauty HQ at 2,100 CVS Pharmacy stores nationwide. The beauty team at CVS has curated a selection of products that features innovative, eye-catching and easy-to-understand products, including benefit-focused masks, multi-step skincare regimens, whimsical cosmetics and innovative ingredients like egg oil, snail mucin and more.
Transitioning from Sick-Care to Self-Care
CVS Pharmacy has greatly expanded its offerings throughout health with a broader selection of vitamins and supplements, including offerings from specialty brands like Irwin Naturals and New Chapter, as well as expanded nutrition products like Vega and Naturade protein powders and Navitas Organics Superfood Mix Ins. You’ll also find more products tied to emerging areas like connected health, sleep/mood and immunity, and holistic solutions.
There will be new standards for vitamins and supplements that will be fully implemented by 2019. The standards will require third-party testing of ingredient listings for vitamins and supplements, as well as product testing for certain ingredients of concern.
More Customer Convenience
As a loyal CVS shopper I love the CVS Pharmacy ExtraCare Beauty Club and ExtraCare Rewards program that help me save money. The CVS Mobile App lets you manage your ExtraBucks Rewards, personalized deals, and use manufacturer coupons, all from your phone. Also, select store locations now offer CVS Curbside – you can order products online, pay via CVS pay in the app and pick your products up curbside. How awesome is that?! Just think how awesome this service would be on a day when you are sick.
I’m so excited about all the many ways CVS Pharmacy is making healthy choices easier for you and me. They’ve truly gone above and beyond to meet customers health and self-care needs.
