Debby Ryan, known for her role on shows 16 Wishes and Suite Life on Deck on the Disney Channel, does a fantastic job portraying the quirky and loveable character Tara in Radio Rebel. The Disney Channel Original Movie Radio Rebel is based on the book “Shrinking Violet” and follows Tara Adams (Debby Ryan), an ordinary high school junior with an extraordinary secret—she’s Radio Rebel, the most popular radio DJ in Seattle!
About the Movie
“To everyone in her home town, Tara Adams (Debby Ryan) is just an ordinary high school junior, except for one thing … she has a secret identity. Truth is, she’s actually Radio Rebel, the most popular DJ in Seattle! In person, Tara is a nondescript, socially under-the-radar, teenager; but get her behind the mic and she becomes Radio Rebel, the coolest personality on the air! This unique status is desperately in need at the moment as her school is in the midst of a clique-crisis. Radio Rebel gives voice to all kids, popular and unpopular alike, and she publicly questions the status quo, which does not sit well with the principal who is determined to uncover Radio Rebel’s true identity. On top of all that, mean girl Stacy (Merritt Patterson, “Kyle XY”) is intent on coming between Tara and cute boy Gavin (Adam DiMarco, “The Haunting Hour”). As push comes to shove, Tara must decide between keeping her alter ego a secret, or being true to herself: a choice with major repercussions.”
My family always enjoys watching the Disney Channel Original Movies and Radio Rebel is no exception. The girls and I have watched this several times and especially enjoyed Debby Ryan’s music video for “We Got the Beat!” that is included in the bonus materials. It’s nice to see Tara’s journey of self discovery, as she gains confidence and learns to stand up for what she believes. As a parent, I appreciate that the movie touches on important topics like peer pressure and bullying. Radio Rebel is a great movie for older kids and tweens to enjoy.
Disney Channel’s Original Movie Radio Rebel (SRP $27.99) is now available on DVD from Image Entertainment and is available where DVDs are sold.
This sounds really cute! I think my stepdaughter would love it. Honestly, I’d probably like it too! It’s always a win when we can watch something we both enjoy.
This does sound great for older kids and tweens probably wouldn’t hold my 2 year old’s interest
I always loved the Disney Sunday Night Movies when I was younger…this looks like it should be great!
My youngest sister would love this movie! I’ll have to tell her about it.
I always loved Disney movies too. This one sounds like it will be just as good.
