DIY New Year's Eve noisemakers for kids

Do you have big New Year’s Eve plans? Whether you do or not, you have to make these DIY New Year’s Eve Noisemakers with the kids! It has never been a big holiday for us. Up until a couple years ago, my husband worked in the restaurant business, so he was always working.

I still enjoy doing something fun for the kids, especially as they have gotten older and have a little better understanding of News Year’s.

Being kids, they like to be little (or a lot) loud and New Year’s is the prefect time to let them. This year I made New Year’s Eve Noisemakers for them.

We made a jingle bell sensory bin earlier in the month. The kids enjoyed it and played with a lot, but had grown tired of it, so I was looking for ways to reuse the items in the sensory bin.

Normally, the kids are very involved in our craft projects, but this is one I created for them. They could have helped with the painting and they have a cool short glue gun. I knew they would probably be shaking the heck out of these, so I wanted to make sure those bells were securely fastened to the sticks.

1. Paint the craft sticks color of choosing. I chose a gold acrylic paint to match the bells. (This step is optional. You can leave the craft sticks unpainted if you choose.)

2. Glue the jingle bells to the craft sticks using a glue gun. Easy enough right?! The first one I did would say otherwise. You want to make sure the ball inside your jingle bell does not land in the glue before it dries, therefore preventing it from moving and making any noise. What I did (the second time around), was hold the jingle bell and apply glue to the top. Working quickly (hot glue dries quickly), place the craft stick on top of the jingle bell. You are not moving the jingle bell, just the craft stick. Wait a minute or so to allow the glue to dry before moving. Repeat this step if using smaller jingle bells.

3. Give them to the kids to play. The jingle bells could come lose and pose a choking hazard, so as always use caution when giving to kids. Do not give to kids, who put stuff in their mouths.
