DIY Shamrock Paper Garland

Do you need a really simple and inexpensive way to decorate for St Patrick’s Day? Here’s a fun project that you can do with the kids – DIY Shamrock Paper Garland. Chances are you already have everything you need to make this tucked away in your craft closet. My initial thought for this project was to sew a basic stitch through each paper shamrock, and that would have been very pretty. But truth be told my sewing machine was buried under a pile of folded laundry that I didn’t much want to fool with, so I improvised and pulled out the craft glue.

I’m very happy with how this project turned out, and since I didn’t use the sewing machine it’s something the kids can help with from start to finish.

Here’s What You’ll Need

green construction paper
scissors
craft glue
white or green thread
shamrock shaped cookie cutter or template

To make this garland, we used a cookie cutter to trace shamrocks onto the construction paper then cut each of them out.

Next, take a paper shamrock and run a line of glue across the middle that will hold your thread in place. Add some additional drops of glue to the edges, and place another paper shamrock, of equal size, on top to hold the thread in place.
