Did you see my recent unicorn headband tutorial? Those were so much fun to make, and super easy. I have another unicorn inspired activity to share with you! My 10-year-old daughter is currently obsessed with unicorns and I couldn’t be any more happy about that. I was just the same way when I was her age. Truthfully, I never really outgrew it.
Unicorns are special and beautiful and magical and that is why they caught on as a huge trend in our culture. I wanted to make something themed as unicorns and decided to use the colors and glitter to create a tray that I can put fun and pretty things on at home. With only a few inexpensive supplies, you can recreate this DIY craft and make one for yourself or as a gift for a friend.

Here is how to make a unicorn inspired trinket tray:
Supplies that you will need:
- a back drop to keep the area clean (I used poster board)
- craft paints in the colors light green, purple, light yellow, turquoise and pink.
- a container of glitter
- a white plastic tray
Step 1. Lay your tray in the center of your backdrop. Open the green paint and move your hand back and forth over the tray and then start squeezing the bottle of paint. Get some lines and some drips on the tray.
Step 2. Using the same technique, apply some blue paint.
TIP: At this point you can make some bigger splotches of paint for the other colors to layer over. I used my finger tips to spread the paint a little. (as shown below)
Step 3. Add the yellow.

Step 4. Layer on the purple and pink paint. Use a little more of these colors than you did the others.
Step 5. Shake the glitter onto the wet paint.
Step 6. Let this dry at least 24 hours before using. Shake the excess glitter off before use.
This project really is so easy! It’s a whole lot of messy fun too.
