You may not know this about me, but I was once a military spouse. My son’s father was in the Navy, and I was a very young bride. Sidney’s Dad was a submariner and went out to sea on a 3 month rotation, leaving my son and I alone six months out of the year. What I remember more than the separation though are the times when we reunited. My son’s face lit up with joy each time his Daddy came home. The reunion was always so magical for us, and filled with tears of joy. While I am no longer married to Sid’s father, I am still very proud of his service to our country and the time we spent together as a military family. On the topic of reuniting military families, I want to share the Dove Men+Care Mission Care campaign with you. Although I was asked to participate in this compensated campaign, it’s one that I truly believe in and has quickly become very near and dear to my heart.
I took quite an emotional stroll down memory lane while writing this and pulled out some old photo albums. I love this picture taken of my son approximately 24 years ago, wearing his Daddy’s sailor hat.
Dove Men+Care Mission Care
Dove Men+Care is partnering with the non-profit organization Operation Homefront to bring home 300 servicemembers (dads and moms) this Father’s Day to spend quality time with their families. As difficult as it was for me to be separated from my husband, especially on holidays, I know it was even more difficult for him. So, I am very moved by the “Mission: Care” campaign and know that you will be also after watching this video. Be sure to have a box of tissues handy. I cannot watch this without tearing up.
To remind all families to make every moment together count, especially on Father’s Day, Dove Men+Care captured this surprise reunion for one military dad and his family. The heartfelt film features the serviceman, named John, his wife and children, after being apart for almost one year. This family’s experience represents one story of hundreds that will take place across the country in time for the holiday weekend, thanks to the “Mission: Care” campaign.
How can you help reunite more families? We can all help bring troops home by purchasing any Dove Men+Care products including deodorants, face and body washes, and hair care products that are perfect for any care package to Dad. You can also leave a message for those deployed to show your appreciation for their service on the Mission: Care page.
