Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! Series

Tati and I received some super fun promotional stuff along with our copies of the new books.

While these books are geared toward beginning readers, we are enjoying them so much. To celebrate the new Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! series, Tati and I made a fun Gerald the Elephant paper plate craft. All you need to make it are a few paper plates and some basic craft supplies.

Gerald the Elephant Paper Plate Craft

Gerald the Elephant Paper Plate Craft

Here’s what you’ll need:

3 paper plates
2 googly eyes
black marker or crayon
scissors
craft glue

Begin by cutting the circle from the center of one paper plate. This will be the head. Set aside.

Cut the second paper plate in half. Then cut the end from each half, at an angle to create the ears. The pieces you are cutting off will resemble the shape of a pizza slice. Glue each ear onto the back of Gerald’s head.

Glue on the eyes, and draw on glasses, eye brows and a mouth.

To make the trunk, cut a 2-inch wide strip from the center of the third paper plate. Fold accordion style, and glue the trunk onto the face. That’s it, you’re done! Wasn’t that fun?
