Last month I took part in a wonderful gathering of food bloggers in Asheville, NC for the Food Blog Forum annual conference. Foodtopia Asheville was the perfect setting for this meeting of foodie minded bloggers. One of our excursions brought us to Hickory Nut Gap Farm in Asheville, a family owned farm with sustainable agriculture practices.
Hickory Nut Gap Farm raises grass-fed cattle for beef, pasteurized pork and poultry, and offers u-pick organic apples and berries. Nature was all around us at the farm. You could see it, smell it, and taste it. I was really wishing I had brought my camera along on this trip, but did manage to snap a few half-way decent pics with my smartphone. I thought it might be nice to share some with you.
Can you imagine living in this sweet little farm house, surrounded by sunflowers?
After sampling some of the grass-fed beef the farm is famous for, we set out on a walking tour of the farm. It was A LOT of walking, but totally worth it.
This farm is splendid. It was neat seeing biodiversity and sustainability in action.
There is some great history at this place. The farm has been in the McClure family since 1916. If you are traveling in the Asheville area, I encourage you to stop by Hickory Nut Gap Farm to shop at the farm store and visit with the McClure family.
What a beautiful adventure for you as a foodie blogger. I have always wanted to visit a farm and take advantage of all the goings on but reality is I am a cit girl.
it looks like a great place if you want to experience picking your own fruits! nothing like knowing firsthand that your fruits are fresh and not freshened up! >XD
Ahh it looks peaceful. I would love to go to a farm this year! I’m looking forward!
