We are still living in uncertain times and as parents we are doing our best to navigate these unchartered waters. In my household, we started off the school year doing e-learning then switched to brick and mortar school in the late fall. After the winter holiday, we made the decision to resume e-learning until I can get vaccinated.

Though there have been a lot of changes and challenges in recent months, there is a lot to be thankful for. Cooking most meals at home and spending more time outdoors has been really good for us as a family and good for my budget.

Living in Florida, we are fortunate to have wonderful weather all year round and many opportunities for outdoor activities. Like most parents, I try to stay optimistic and look toward the future. I do the best that I can.

Florida Families Are Looking Toward the Future

Many Florida families have continued to save for their children’s education during COVID-19. To break that down even further, 60% of Florida families maintained saving during the pandemic and 24% increased their college savings according to a recent survey conducted by the Florida Prepaid College Board! It’s pretty safe to say that Florida parents view saving for their child’s education as more important than ever.

Where Can You Use Your Florida Prepaid College Plan?

The plan pays the tuition and fees at any Florida College or State University. If your child attends an out-of-state college, private college, or technical/vocational school, the plan will pay the same amount as it would pay at a public college or university in Florida. If you move out of state, you’ll still be able to contribute to the plan as if you never left. AND, your child will be considered an in-state resident if he or she decides to return to Florida for their college or university education. How awesome is that?!

Plus, you can rest easy knowing that every Florida Prepaid 529 Plan is guaranteed by the State of Florida, so you can never lose what you pay into it. Quite simply, a Florida Prepaid Plan is one of the smartest, safest and most affordable ways to save for college today.
