You might recall, there was a LOT of media buzz mid-January about reduced Florida Prepaid plan prices. This was HUGE news for Florida families and current customers. On January 13, Florida Prepaid announced a $1.3 billion price reduction. This impacted 224,000 current customers and also lowered prices for the current Open Enrollment period.
- 224,000 customers will have Prepaid Plan Prices lowered
- Lower Plan prices for the 2020 Open Enrollment, happening NOW through April 30, 2020, will start at $44/month for a newborn – lowest in five years!
- Nearly half of customers with plans purchase since 2008 have refunds available totaling more than $500 million.
How did this happen? The price reductions, which apply to plans purchased since 2008, were made possible due to successive years of lower than anticipated tuition and fee increases.
Florida Prepaid is the largest and longest-running prepaid program in the nation, thriving even as other states end their programs or stop accepting new participants.
