Edible paint is a fun way to make a long afternoon more fun or just bring some arts and crafts to snack time. It is a fun way for kids to get creative. Save this for a special afternoon occasion or use it when the kids are bored.

This is actually edible paint. You will be using the paint to paint directly on snacks so that kids can then eat their masterpieces. Of course, if you didn’t want the kids to eat the paint, you can also paint on things like paper or directly on the table.

What Should Kids Use to Paint On?

The kids will love painting on their snacks. Kids can paint on

  • Bread or toast
  • Tortillas
  • Sliced fruit
  • Cookies like sugar cookies
  • Marshmallows

Tips for mixing primary colors

  • For purple – Make the red first. Transfer half of the paint to a different container. With the remaining paint, add blue food coloring until you reach the desired shade of purple.
  • For orange – Make the yellow first. Transfer half of the paint to a different container. With the remaining paint, add red food coloring until you reach the desired shade of orange.
