We are a few weeks into Fall and that means it is officially pot pie season. The cooler weather makes us crave comfort foods and there aren’t many meals more comforting than chicken pot pie. I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy just thinking about a piping hot chicken pot pie.
This is such a busy time of the year with the kids back in school, fall sports in full swing, and the holidays fast approaching. I felt a little pang in my chest just typing that last bit. I’m not ready for the busy holiday season to be here. I can barely keep up with after school dance lessons and show choir right now. More than ever, I’ll be relying on some of my favorite frozen meals to get a wholesome dinner onto the table fast.
I visited my local Walmart and stocked up on Marie Callender’s Cheesy Chicken Pot Pies. So often it is just me and my 9-year old for dinner, so the 16 oz. single serve portions are perfect. I just pop two into the oven. I also like to keep a few extra in the freezer in case Grandma and Grandpa join us for dinner.
Baking Tip: Cover the edges with foil when cooking, so you don’t burn that golden flakey crust!
With a golden flakey crust and homemade taste you’ll want to savor, a Marie Callender’s Pot Pie comes closest to homemade. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve made homemade pot pie more than a few times in my life. It’s just not worth the effort when Marie Callender’s is so good.
I love that a pot pie is a complete meal. You’ve got your bread, protein and veggie all in a cute little pie. I usually toss together a simple green salad while the pot pies are baking in the oven. Easy peasy.

We’re always ready for pot pies, but especially now. I haven’t tried Marie Callender’s yet, these look good.
One of my 7cyear old grandson’s favorite meals at my place is a Callender’s Cheesy Turkey Pot Pies. I know we’ll both love the Cheesy Chicken Pot Pies! I’ll be looking for them on my next trip to Walmart!
This frozen pot pie looks so good. I make one from scratch with broccoli and chicken a lot, but I may need to add these frozen ones into the rotation! Comfort food season is my fav!
I love pot pies. I will eat them year round. They are just a good comfort food.
