On December 15th more than 5,000 Hasbro employees around the world (237 service projects across 40+ countries) volunteered and engaged in community service projects to bring joy to families in need during the holidays. This special day, known as Hasbro Global Day of Joy is part of Hasbro’s ongoing philanthropic mission is to empower childhood by bringing hope, play and service into the lives of children.
Over the last few months, as a Hasbro Kindness Ambassador, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the Joy Maker Challenge and Rules of Kindness campaigns with you. Two very impactful initiatives, through a partnership between Hasbro and generationOn, that teach children to be more kind and compassionate. I am such a fan of Hasbro and all the good work that they do. I’m excited to share a bit more about their philanthropic efforts.
This holiday season alone, Hasbro donated more than a half million toys and games (valued at $6 million) to children and families in need. Their goal is to put a toy or game in the hands of parents, so they can have a present for their kids on their holiday. Hasbro is a long-time partner supporting Toys for Tots; 19 years with approximately $3 million worth of toys and games donated annually.
Hasbro Global Day of Joy
During Global Day of Joy, Hasbro rallies all of their employees globally to make the world a better place for children and their families. 93% of Hasbro employees in 40+ countries are giving back today. The average participation for corporate volunteer programs is approximately 30%. Some examples of Hasbro’s Global Day of Joy are:
- Elementary School Toy Drop (RI): Volunteers will be packing and delivering toys and games to every public elementary school in Providence, Pawtucket, and Central Falls – more than 20,000 local kids.
- Pediatric Rehabilitation Center Renovation (Peru): Entire office in Peru is renovating a pediatric orthopedic rehabilitation center for children with physical disabilities. The project began this summer and they plan to host the official ribbon cutting with a celebration on GDJ.
As we all enjoy this holiday season, I hope the actions of Hasbro and it’s employees have inspired you (as they have me) to give back when and how you can this holiday season and beyond. As you wrap up your holiday shopping, I hope you’ll keep Hasbro as one of the brands you support!
Disclosure: I have been financially compensated as a Hasbro Kindness Ambassador.
I think that is wonderful. When big companies give back like that, it makes me feel better about humanity in general.
Hasbro is such a wonderful company and has been really impressing me with their initiatives this year. What a great thing for a company to do!!
This is the best. THE BEST. I feel like if a big company isn’t giving back to the community like this then they should be ashamed of themselves. Good for Hasbro.
I love that Hasbro is doing so much. I am always more likely to shop with a company that gives back.
This totally fills my heart with happiness! I always love seeing companies give back, especially during the holiday season.
I have tears of joy reading this. So many kudos to Hasbro for bringing joy to everyone! Our Hasbro toys have a new special meaning for us
Oh wow what an amazing sounding day – I love the fact they did such a great celebration for it and brought so much joy to people.
This looks so wonderful. I love Hasbro was part of this.
I volunteer with the Salvation Army giving needy families toys for the holidays each year. I love seeing companies like Hasbo giving back and making sure children have a nice holiday. The families are so appreciative, it really warms my heart to see that kind of compassion for these families.
We love Hasbro toys. It’s amazing what they have done to give back! I always like to support companies like this.
