Healthy Lunchbox Ideas from Lifestyle Expert Evette Rios

Are you hungry for healthy back to school ideas?

Lifestyle Expert Evette Rios was kind enough to talk with me recently about healthy lunchbox ideas. Here is the video from our interview.

A recent survey says, most moms believe back to school is the real new year, and 61% of moms resolve to get their families eating healthier this back to school year. Busy parents can face a huge challenge packing lunches for their kids, trying to balance convenience, cost and healthy choices. Nearly 50% of the moms surveyed say the cost of fresh produce and healthy foods is an obstacle. Parents also want to make sure their kids lunches will keep them away from any temptations in the vending machine or lunch table swaps.

Healthy Lunchbox Ideas

Lunchbox Ideas:

  • Fresh can be best – Try reinventing some veggie ideas with crumbled feta cheese or whole wheat pita chips
  • Include Cool Foods – New healthy snack items that your kids haven’t tried yet
  • Yogurt Sundaes – Fun yogurt flavors topped with fruit and nuts are just as tasty as the higher calorie counterpart
  • Look for store and package labels that indicate healthier options and a good value

Evette Ríos, a lifestyle expert for outlets like The Food Network and Everyday with Rachael Ray, dishes on healthy back to school lunchtime tips for kids. She also has money and time saving food solutions to help families start the school year off right. For more healthy lunchbox ideas from Lifestyle Expert Evette Rios visit www.Walmart.com.

  • I always try to make my daughter’s lunch interesting because I think “geez, I’d hate to eat cheese sandwiches every day”! Maybe it’s just me because she never complains with the lunches I pack her… but then I try to make HEALTHY choices at the same time. That’s where the challenge comes in… she’s in grade 1 this year so making her interesting + healthy lunches can be tough sometimes! Thanks for the pointers! 🙂
