Helping Moms and Kids Stay Fueled for School

It’s back to school season and soon your child’s brain will be working overtime. You’ll be working overtime too Mom – making sure homework is done, backpacks are packed, and the kids are eating a good breakfast and lunch. Between carpool and everything else you have to do during the school year, it’s nice to get a helping hand from brands like today’s sponsors Jimmy Dean® and State Fair®. They want to help moms get Fueled for School by helping her provide meal solutions for her family.

Helping Moms and Kids Stay Fueled for School

I learned early on the importance of preparing for school the night before. When my son started school I was working out of a downtown office, so our days started very early. Getting his backpack ready, laying out clothes, packing lunch and knowing what I was going to make for breakfast in the morning were all key to getting us out the door on time in the mornings. Do you prepare for school the night before?

All that reading, writing and arithmetic can work up quite an appetite. My nieces are back to school this week, so we headed to Walmart to stock up on some of our favorite breakfast and after school snack foods.

We found just what we needed in the freezer section of Walmart.

For breakfast it’s good to have foods that can be prepared quickly like Jimmy Dean® Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick or Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches. Older kids like my nieces can even even heat these up in the microwave themselves.

Less time at the stove means more quality time together!

I love a quick meal that takes just minutes to heat up in the microwave.

Have you tried Jimmy Dean® Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick yet? It’s delicious and oh-so fun to eat.

Don’t forget after school snacks while shopping at Walmart. No matter how big a lunch I have packed for my son, he always came home from school with such an appetite. My nieces are the same way. That after school snack is so important, especially when kids have homework to do. I personally don’t think kids should have a lot of homework, but the school doesn’t seem to agree with me.

I think it’s a good idea to get homework out of the way before dinner, before kids get tired. A quick afternoon snack like State Fair® Beef Corn Dogs which are a great source of protein and a little free time to let the mind rest is essential to successful homework.
