I received a HooToo TripMate Wireless Portable Router to facilitate this review.
The HooToo Wireless N150 Portable Router has a lot of very useful features all contained in one very small package. The TripMate can charge your devices, be used as Wi-Fi mini router, and USB storage media sharing. Are you impressed yet? As someone who travels a lot, the HooToo TripMate HT-TM01 has proved to be a very useful little gadget. When I travel for business, I seem to pack just as much tech as I do clothing. This is only amplified when traveling with my family full of teens and young adults, all with their own tablets and laptops. It’s great to have one device, small enough to fit into your pocket, that can do so much. It’s a 3 in 1 travel friendly wireless sharing solution.
To be more specific, it’s a N150 mini broadband router and bridge, is Wi-Fi hotspot capable (anywhere there is Wi-Fi available you can easily bridge into your own hotspot), 5200mAh battery pack (2-3 full charges w/iPhone), and a wireless USB storage/sharing device. Inside the box you will find the device and a microUSB charging cable. The TripMate has so many different uses that I really had to take a few minutes to read the instruction manual to figure it out. But once I did my homework, I realized how very useful this little device would be.
Setting the HooToo TripMate Wirless N Portable Travel Router to bridge mode was easy. Anywhere there is Wi-Fi available you can easily bridge into your own hotspot. It allows you to set up a wireless broadcast (hotspot) with a secure name and password. This gives the wireless protection you need while traveling or sitting in a coffee shop. It will also provide internet access to your guests, or in my case a family of teenagers.
The 5200mAh batter pack proves to be very useful, providing multiple charges for a smartphone or one charge for a tablet. There is a battery light indicator that will always tell you how much juice is left in your TripMate, so you’ll know when to charge it up.
Use the TripMate for easy file sharing between your USB storage and IOS/Android devices. Just download the TripMate app, plug in a USB flash drive, and share your photos, music, and video files. This would be very handy if you have files to share with multiple people. It also works with portable hard drives and memory cards plugged into a Flash card disk reader.
All in all, I am very happy with the TripMate. It can be a secure wireless router, a portable USB storage sharing device, and a backup battery. All in one neat little package. If you spend a lot of time using public Wi-Fi or traveling, I highly recommend the HooToo TripMate Wireless Portable Router.
