There was a time when I was only comfortable being behind the camera. I think as we get older we become more confident and accepting of ourselves, and that’s where I am now. Layer up in colder weather.
Not only does wearing multiple layers keep you warm on cold days, but it makes sense for days that warm up as the hours tick by. You can peel off layers as the temperatures rise.
Depending on where you live it might still be quite warm during the day, but the temperatures are likely to be cooler in the mornings and when the sun starts to dip. You’re better off being prepared with some easy-to-wear layers. On days like these, I like to wear a fleece tunic over a tank. Then, I top it off with a comfy fleece jacket or lightweight quilted car coat. Easy, casual, and comfortable. It’s a terrific look too!
I have a fairly active lifestyle, so For bottoms I mostly stick to denim, leggings and fleece jogging pants.

For me, being comfortable is just as (if not more) important than being stylish. I’m going to let you in on a little secret though. YOU DON’T HAVE TO CHOOSE. You can wear clothes that are made well and look great AND be comfortable too.

I’ll be 50 on my next birthday, and I’m feeling really good about a lot of things in my life right now. I have two terrific children. My son is now in his 30’s and my little girl just started middle school. She really keeps me on my toes.
My career is going well, and two summers ago I found love and a life partner in Andy. Life is sweet.

My absolute favorite wardrobe piece this fall is this quilted car coat from Blair.com. It’s not too bulky and layers well. It fits generously through the hips and the pockets are deep. I’m wearing size medium. I LOVE this coat!
This tank from Blair is an essential layering piece for fall and it’s available in a variety of colors. Of course, my dog jumped into my chair the second I stood up.
You will want to live in this fleece tunic from Blair. It’s incredibly cozy and keeps me warm when I sit out on the lanai with my coffee on cool mornings. I enjoy watching all the birds, ducks and squirrels at my feeder.
You can never have enough fleece jackets, and luckily this snap-front fleece jacket from Blair comes in a LOT of different colors. The navy goes with everything, but the very berry color below is my absolute favorite.
I’m also wearing Blair’s flat waist jeans in both the above and below images. They are super soft, comfortable and stretchy to fit you just right. I think they are quite flattering.

I keep a fleece jacket in my car, and a few in my coat closet that I can easily throw on before heading outdoors.
The flannel tunic also looks great buttoned up and worn over a pair of leggings. The longer length is perfect for covering your bumps and imperfections.
And, I’m going to show the quilted car coat again because I love it so much, and this adorable chicken photo bombed me. I was shopping in Ybor City in Tampa where the chickens run wild. It is quite a spectacle!
