My beauty routine has changed significantly in recent years, ever since I began living an overall healthier lifestyle and learning more about the chemicals that are in most skin and body care products. I’ve replaced many of the products I use with safer, greener ones like Tom’s of Maine, especially when it comes to things like household cleaning products, cleansing and body care products, and cosmetics. With all of these changes, I think I’m due to share how I maintain a natural beauty regimen that lasts all day.
In addition to better health, one of the perks of using natural body care products is that you look better too. It’s always so nice when a friend or former co-worker I haven’t seen in a while comments on how young I look.
I definitely have more confidence in the way I look and feel now. Five years ago, I never would have dreamed I’d be sharing selfies to Instagram and talking about things like diet, fitness, and natural cleansing products.
I’m 48-years old, and the older I get I realize how important it is to pay attention to the ingredients that go into the products I buy for myself and my family. I wish I had paid more attention earlier on, but it is never too late to make better choices.
Maintaining a natural beauty regimen doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive. As a busy single mom, y’all know I like to keep things simple and affordable. For me, maintaining a natural beauty regimen is all about making healthy lifestyle choices and choosing products that are made with safe ingredients.
Here’s How I Maintain A Natural Beauty Regimen That Lasts All Day Long
Opt for natural body care products. My favorite is the Tom’s of Maine Cleansing collection made with 100% natural ingredients and a unique blend of organic formulas. The body washes and beauty bars keep skin moist and soft throughout the day.
The 100% naturally-derived, on-trend fragrances include: calming lavender, refreshing coconut, and energizing orange. The Tom’s of Maine Lavender and Shea Natural Body Wash is my absolute favorite cleansing product.
I feel good knowing these products are dermatologist-tested, free from artificial fragrances and animal ingredients, and were developed without the use of animal testing.
Drink plenty of water. I can’t stress enough the importance of drinking enough water. I always have a bottle of water next to me whether it is in the car, on the bedside table, or on my desk next to my laptop. Try beginning each day, drinking a glass of water, and yes that’s before your coffee. It will really make a difference.
Wear sunblock and limit sun exposure when you can. Gosh, I wish I had paid more attention to this when I was younger. My décolletage (chest and neck area) which is exposed to the most sun, is the one part of my body that is really showing some age and wear.
A lot of my life has been spent in Florida, close to the beach, so this has been challenging for me. I’m not ready to give up my weekends at the beach, but I make sure to wear plenty of sunblock and apply it every day now – even if I’m just going to be out running a few errands.
Eat organic foods when you can. I know this can get expensive, but I do buy organic foods whenever I can. I don’t have the patience for a backyard vegetable garden, but shopping at the local farmer’s market makes organic vegetables more affordable for me. Plus, these days there are a lot more products on the shelves that are made with organic products. Stock up when you see a good sale.
Eat a healthy diet that is rich in antioxidants. Embrace fruits and veggies. Choose foods like strawberries, blueberries and spinach which are rich in antioxidants. I’ve made a lot of little changes like replacing spaghetti with zucchini spirals and making mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes. My little girl loves having a celery with peanut butter snack with me, after school. Making little changes in your diet can go a long way.
Use cosmetics made with natural ingredients. Just like cleansing and body care products, I have switched to cosmetics that are made with natural ingredients. I have always had problem skin, and making this switch has made a big difference for me.
It’s really not difficult to maintain a natural beauty regimen, and one that lasts all day. You just have to make up your mind to do it. Have you made any healthy lifestyle changes or switched to using natural products like Tom’s of Maine? I’d love to hear your thoughts in a comment below.
