Taking time for yourself and making “me” time a priority can result in less stress and better health. However, it’s much easier said than done. I have a feeling a lot of you reading this right now don’t take near enough time for yourself. I’m certainly guilty of it. This post is sponsored by CVS/pharmacy as part of a Find Your Healthy campaign. All thoughts are my own.
As moms we are caretakers by nature. I think that’s why we feel guilty when we make ourselves a priority. What I have realized is that taking “me” time is a gift for my family, just as much as a benefit to me. My family deserves the happiest and healthiest “me” possible. I want to stick around long enough to watch my future grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. I need to do better. Do you?
I recently got to spend a weekend with my sister who lives in Florida. We both desperately needed some time off and chance to rejuvenate. On my way down to Florida, I had some flight delays that kept me in Charlotte for an additional 5 hours. While chatting with my sister on the phone, I mentioned the airport spa that I was sitting across from. Cat so wisely suggested that I go inside for a massage. Knowing me so well, she followed up with a text message 10 minutes later urging me to treat myself. She knows me so well. I gave in. After 20 minutes of pure bliss and relaxation I was ready for a nap, but more importantly I was ready to tackle the long day ahead. Why was that so hard for me to do?
{“Me” Time at the Pool with my Sister}
Our weekend was great. We talked, laughed, vented, spent time by the pool and watched movies. We encouraged each other to take better care of ourselves. I came home and made appointments to see my general practitioner, eye doctor and dentist. All long overdue appointments. I also made a new commitment to eat healthier, exercise more, and take my daily vitamins and supplements.
After all, taking care of yourself is pretty much the same as taking time for yourself.
You don’t have to spend a weekend away like I did to take time for yourself. Even if it’s just 15 minutes a day with a juicy novel, a quit cup of coffee, or a walk around the block, taking that “me” time is so important to your overall health. I’m ready to make myself a priority. How about you?

It’s so important to have some alone time. We need to recharge, so we can keep kicking butt!
Absolutely! It doesn’t take long, but I need a good 10 minutes every day to be able to go back and rule the world.
I know your sister π Glad you got time to stop by and visit her!
I used to feel guilty about taking time for myself. Then I realized that I need to be able to recharge.
I definitley don’t take for me. I’m sitting in front of the computer right now when I should be napping.
I have been working like a dog lately and could really use some extra me time. I think I will arrange a back to school massage as a way of treating myself for surviving summer!
It’s definitely a good idea to take some time for yourself. I have to remember to spend some time relaxing today.
I am terrible about not taking time for myself and getting burned out. Good for you that you took some time off.
With the kids and starting my blog (which you never realize HOW MUCH work it will be!) I have completely neglected taking any me time. This was a good reminder, thanks!
yep, definitely easier said than done. I have troubles forcing myself to take that me time too!
It’s definitely hard because I feel like I should be working. I need to learn to let this go.
I try to have some “me time” whenever I can. I also take some vitamins to take care of myself like you do!
I do like to get away My sis and I try to take some me time.
Me time is always needed. I could go for some me time soon.

I like to have a nice hot bath with a good book to relax. Now that my kids are teenagers i have more time to myself.
I don’t have a CVS anywhere near me. Small town, rural, but we do have a competitor store. LOL I need to get better about me time. I am stressed way too much and it is really starting to take a toll on my health.
Me time is definitely so important! I don’t do it enough myself I don’t think. x
I always try to take a multivitamin and calcium. I know I don’t get enough calcium. I get me time by taking walks.
I haven’t gotten nearly any me time lately. Which has not been good. Usually I like to take a nice hot bath at night to relax, and I havent been able to in about 2 weeks just stuck having quick showers in the am, so I need some me time.
I need to start taking supplements. I know I don’t get enough nutrients every day.
I have to admit that I hardly ever make enough “me” time for myself. I need to do that at least once a month.
This is so true. I really need to start taking supplements and find the time to have a ME time.
The only “me time” I get is when I am in the bathroom with the door closed, but even then I still have kids knocking on the door π I could use a getaway!
You can’t go go go all the time without burning out. Gotta take time for yourself regualrly.
It is nice to take some ME time every once in a while. especially when you have small kids
Taking supplements is important when you are lacking. Magnisium is a great supplement as well.
I definitely take time for myself by working out daily. Sometimes my youngest comes down to join me but I am usually alone. I would love to win the prize because taking care of your health is so important and good nutrition is part of it.
Moms are the busiest creatures that ever existed. Because we have to do what needs to be done everyday, it really takes a toll on our health. Thank you for this great reminder to have some time for ourselves and to take the necessary supplements to ensure our health and well-being.
Me Time is not blogging. That’s what I am trying to learn. π
I really agree that time is so important to getting relaxed on your own, but the schedules never gives room for that. I also think about taking vitamins and calcium supplements, but I have never did it before. This radiance platinum sounds like a wonderful supplement. Will check it out.
I never take enough for myself. I can really feel the effect I need to make changes now!

I’d love a weekend getaway with my BFF so we could both recharge. Moms definitely need ME time!
I try to get a little me time, but it is hard. I carry a book with me everywhere I go, so if I can grab a few minutes, I sink into my book.
I think vitamins and supplements are important to maintain good health. My time is spent reading and sewing whenever I can find a spare moment!
