Me Time: Taking Time for Yourself

Me Time - Taking Time for Yourself

Me Time - Taking Time for Yourself

Taking time for yourself and making “me” time a priority can result in less stress and better health. However, it’s much easier said than done. I have a feeling a lot of you reading this right now don’t take near enough time for yourself. I’m certainly guilty of it. This post is sponsored by CVS/pharmacy as part of a Find Your Healthy campaign. All thoughts are my own.

As moms we are caretakers by nature. I think that’s why we feel guilty when we make ourselves a priority. What I have realized is that taking “me” time is a gift for my family, just as much as a benefit to me. My family deserves the happiest and healthiest “me” possible. I want to stick around long enough to watch my future grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. I need to do better. Do you?

I recently got to spend a weekend with my sister who lives in Florida. We both desperately needed some time off and chance to rejuvenate. On my way down to Florida, I had some flight delays that kept me in Charlotte for an additional 5 hours. While chatting with my sister on the phone, I mentioned the airport spa that I was sitting across from. Cat so wisely suggested that I go inside for a massage. Knowing me so well, she followed up with a text message 10 minutes later urging me to treat myself. She knows me so well. I gave in. After 20 minutes of pure bliss and relaxation I was ready for a nap, but more importantly I was ready to tackle the long day ahead. Why was that so hard for me to do?

Me Time - Taking Time for Yourself

Our weekend was great. We talked, laughed, vented, spent time by the pool and watched movies. We encouraged each other to take better care of ourselves. I came home and made appointments to see my general practitioner, eye doctor and dentist. All long overdue appointments. I also made a new commitment to eat healthier, exercise more, and take my daily vitamins and supplements.

After all, taking care of yourself is pretty much the same as taking time for yourself.

Me Time and Taking Care of Yourself

You don’t have to spend a weekend away like I did to take time for yourself. Even if it’s just 15 minutes a day with a juicy novel, a quit cup of coffee, or a walk around the block, taking that “me” time is so important to your overall health. I’m ready to make myself a priority. How about you?
