Mechatars Interactive Toy Robot Review & Giveaway

There are a lot of great RC toys and video games on the market that will keep your kids entertained for hours, but in my opinion none of them compare to Mechatars. The Mechatars are robotic warriors that exist in two worlds, Earth and the Mechaverse, a fascinating online universe. Mechatars by iloveRobots combines the best of robotics, online gaming and remote controlled toys, all-in-one toy.

There are three Mechatars available for purchase: Alpha: Tactical Leader, Wrexx: Frenzied Fighter and Kodar: Loyal Protector. Each has their own personalities and strengths in battle. We recently had opportunity to review the Mechatar Wrexx.

The Mechatars robots are a blast to play with using the RC controller. Not only do Mechatars have the ability to speed across the room and turn 360 with ease, but can take on real world missions. By simply using the mode button on the remote, you can place your Mechatar in “mission mode”. Your Mechatar can now move around to survey the surroundings and seek out a target. You are guided to the target by beeping sounds that beep faster, the closer you are to your target. Each completed mission earns you points and badges.

Multiple Mechatars are able to sense each other via wireless communication and prepare for a one-on-one battle that pits users against each other. I look forward to getting another Mechatar and experiencing this hands on.

 

Mechatars come with a USB cable that connects to the back of your robot and into the USB port on your computer, gaining you entrance into the Mechaverse.  In the online world of the Mechaverse, your Mechatar is training for a fight between the dangerous enemy known as The Swarm and the Mechatars. As your child plays with and trains their robot, the Mechatar earns more weapons, skills and abilities. You can also win and buy more weapons and powers from an online store. Your Mechatar starts out with 210 credits. In this vibrant and ever evolving virtual experience, you kids can battle for domination with other players of the game.

When starting the online game, be sure to select “Sync” to access weapons gained during physical challenges. Each day you will have three new “Official” battles available that will have the most impact on your points, badges and abilities. Any upgrades made in the Mechaverse will translate into your real world Mechatar experience. This will really come into play when you have more than one robot to battle against each other.

I rate Mechatars with an A+! This “Blended Reality” toy should definitely be at the top of your Christmas list this year. Mechatars, new to stores in the Fall 2001, are available at stores like Target, Radio Shack, Amazon, Toys R’ Us and iloveRobots.com. The Mechatar suggested retail price is $39.99 and well worth it, in my opinion. Mechatar is intended for kids ages 6 and up.
